Location: Minneapolis, MN
Type: Full-time, Cycle position through November 2026 with extension possible
Reports to: Research Director
Compensation: Starting at $8,000/mo and higher based on experience
Overview: Minnesotans for Klobuchar is hiring a full time Deputy Research Director who will help manage our research operation end-to-end, be a key team member in rapid response and implement long-term research strategies in collaboration with the Research Director. This role will be responsible for helping manage an effective opposition and self-research department to support the campaign’s strategic goals for press, organic digital and earned media, paid media, and overall risk assessment. The Deputy Research Director will report to the Research Director.
This role for someone with strong political instincts, established research skills, and experience operating inside a statewide campaign. The ideal candidate has familiarity with research tools and best practices, is creative, highly organized, cares about politics as a means to improve people’s lives, and is excited to join us in Minneapolis for a fast-paced campaign built to win.
Responsibilities:

Execute research plans to accomplish long-term opposition and self-research needs

Fact-check and approve external campaign communications and other key campaign documents, like poll and ad backups and questionnaires

Manage rapid response programs in coordination with the Research Director and Communications Team

Help recruit, hire, train and manage a research team

Vet event hosts, volunteers, and any other individuals that have a public role in the campaign

Manage a document intake and develop a document management system.
Qualifications:

At least two cycles of experience in opposition research, with a strong preference for experience on a statewide campaign and/or at a national committee

Mastery of standard research bullet writing and document formatting

Deep understanding of politics, political campaigns, and the daily news cycle

Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality

Excellent writing skills

Ability to take a long-term plan from concept to execution

Attention to detail, organized, and deadline-oriented

Proficiency with Nexis, FEC, CQ and other research-related databases and services
