JOB DESCRIPTION

The District Lead is a field leadership role responsible for implementing and managing Battleground Alliance’s field program within a priority congressional district. Reporting to a Regional District Desk, District Leads serve as BA’s primary point of contact on the ground — driving local strategy, coalition coordination, and day-to-day field execution to ensure national program goals are translated into effective, locally grounded campaigns. District Leads are expected to be deeply embedded in their assigned district.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and management of the district-level field program in alignment with national strategy

• Translate national program goals into executable district plans tailored to local dynamics

• Serve as the primary point of accountability for district performance, timelines, and deliverables

• Build and sustain strong relationships with local coalition partners, community organizations, and stakeholders

• Convene and lead coalition meetings, planning tables, and work sessions to ensure alignment and shared accountability

• Identify, recruit, and onboard new local partners to strengthen district capacity and reach

• Manage district field coordination, including turf planning, calendars, and coordination across partners and field teams

• Oversee day-to-day field execution, ensuring activities are well-organized, strategic, and compliant

• Supervise and support district-based field staff and organizers, as applicable

• Elevate district insights and partner feedback to the Regional District Desk and national leadership

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of two complete campaign cycles or 2–4 years of field organizing, campaign, or community-based leadership experience

• Demonstrated experience managing field programs, coalitions, or local campaigns

• Experience in voter engagement, coalition coordination, and turf management

• Familiarity with voter file systems (NGP VAN) and basic field reporting structures

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and credibility locally

• Comfort working in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities

• Experience facilitating meetings, planning sessions, and collaborative workspaces

• Ability to work effectively within a larger national field structure

• Willingness to work nights and weekends as required by campaign timelines

• Ability to travel within the district as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience organizing in the assigned state or district

• Existing relationships with local progressive infrastructure, community organizations, or labor partners

Compensation & Location

$6,000–$8,000/month, commensurate with experience and regional cost of living. Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, cell phone stipend, and 401(k). District-based position with regular in-person work required. Eligible states include: Alaska, Colorado, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
