JOB DESCRIPTION: POLITICAL DIRECTOR

Dr. Mariah Lancaster for Congress (MA-06) is seeking a** Political Director** for the 2026 election cycle to oversee the campaign’s local and national political relationships and engagements on the ground. The Political Director must be energetic, creative, and thorough, with superior interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic. The Political Director must be based in Massachusetts and able to report to HQ in Salem, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive political outreach strategy aligned with campaign goals.

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with elected officials, community leaders, advocacy groups, labor unions, and other stakeholders across the district and Commonwealth.

  • Coordinate with constituency groups to organize their involvement with the campaign, including labor, seniors, educators, veterans, communities of color, new Americans, environmentalists, students, and others.

  • Oversee the recruitment and management of surrogates and validators to amplify the campaign’s message in public spaces.

  • Oversee the endorsement and questionnaire process.

  • Plan, coordinate, and staff campaign events, such as town halls, meet-and-greets, and forums.

  • Staff the candidate at events and keep records of interactions and follow-ups needed.

  • Other duties as assigned, which may grow over the course of the cycle depending on the campaign’s needs and the staffer’s demonstrated strengths.

Qualifications

  • At least one cycle of experience as a paid staffer on a campaign, preferably in Massachusetts.

  • Strong command of campaign tools such as Votebuilder, Mobilize, and Scale to Win.

  • Commitment to the candidate’s progressive campaign platform.

  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and a high level of attention to detail.

  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings in a fast-paced campaign environment.

  • Applicants must have a driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle.

Compensation

  • Salary starts at $5,000/month and is commensurate with experience.

  • Health insurance stipend up to $400, if needed.
