JOB DESCRIPTION

This is a campaign cycle, full-time position based in Centre County, Pennsylvania. This position reports

directly to the Campaign Manager. Individuals applying for Field Organizer positions do not require

prior campaign experience.

The 82nd House District contains a major research university, an urban/suburban core and a sizable

rural region. Each region has unique history, challenges and opportunities. In his first two terms,

Representative Takac has successfully engaged with communities throughout the district, and continued

engagement is critical for re-election.

A successful candidate will be interested in learning about the district; friendly and eager to connect

with voters of all ages from different educational, socioeconomic, and political backgrounds; open to

learning new tasks, roles and responsibilities; and willing to both give and accept feedback when

necessary. We value curiosity, mutual respect, clear communication, and collaboration.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recruit and train volunteers in door knocking and phone canvassing

  • Supervise paid canvassers

  • Knock doors and make phone calls to ensure voter contact goals are met

  • Implement canvass launches for community door knocking events

  • Use Votebuilder to cut turf and create phone banks

  • Maintain up to date volunteer records

  • Ensure data integrity

  • Report conversations and field goals to Campaign and HDCC staff.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment

  • Ability to work effectively and tactfully with the public

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Detail oriented and able to work independently given adequate direction

  • Willingness to knock doors in a wide variety of weather conditions

  • Commitment to maintaining a Democratic Majority in the PA State House.

A driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, a smart phone and a computer are required for this

position.
