The Field Representative & Press Assistant reports directly to the Deputy District Director and works closely with the Communications Director, Digital Director/Press Secretary, constituent services team, and legislative staff to ensure that the Congressman’s priorities are effectively communicated and that the district’s needs are brought to Washington.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and provide timely updates to the District Director and Congressman on local issues, emerging trends, and critical developments affecting the district.

• Manage a portfolio of district issues, building and maintaining relationships with constituents, community organizations, advocacy groups, and federal, state, and local government officials.

• Represent the Congressman at community meetings, events, and official functions as directed by the District Director.

• Serve as a liaison to local, state, and federal agencies to help resolve constituent concerns and ensure effective communication.

• Track district-specific news, events, and social media activity and share relevant updates with the District Director, communications team, and DC staff.

• Collaborate with the District Director and DC legislative staff to ensure district priorities inform the Congressman’s legislative agenda.

• Execute and support district events, town halls, roundtables, and press conferences.

• Draft the office’s weekly district newsletter and other constituent-facing communications.

• Capture photo and video content at district events and coordinate with the Communications Department on digital content creation.

• Draft and pitch local media stories highlighting the Congressman’s work and district priorities.

• Help maintain relationships with local reporters, media outlets, community organizations, and stakeholders.

• Provide advance work and logistical support for district press events and media opportunities.

• Support communications and media operations as needed, including backfilling communications responsibilities during staff absences.

Ideal Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a commitment to public service and constituent engagement.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly present the Congressman’s positions at public events and communicate effectively with members of the media.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience with event planning, stakeholder engagement, and community outreach is preferred.

• Experience with photography, videography, social media content creation, or media relations is preferred.

• Familiarity with Orange County and California’s 47th Congressional District required.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
