JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Field Organizer, Kristen for Michigan (U.S. House, MI-08)
Reports to: Organizing Director
Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet is seeking Field Organizers for her re-election campaign for Congress in MI-08 (Genesee, Bay, Saginaw, and Midland Counties) to help activate our coalition of volunteers and win the support of voters across the district.
About the Campaign:
Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet is a lifelong Michigander and champion for working families who represents Michigan’s 8th District. With over 30 years in public service, the Congresswoman is a proven leader in education, childcare, and economic policy. Last cycle, Donald Trump won her district by 2 points, and she was one of 13 members of Congress to win as a Democrat in a Trump-won district. The Cook Political Report rates this district as R+1—the median district in the country—and this race will likely be extremely competitive. With Republicans holding a 3-seat majority in the House of Representatives, this Frontline District is a must win for Democrats to be able to regain control of Congress.
A strong candidate for this role has a high energy level, passion for building people power, and a drive for achieving goals. ** Applicants with strong ties or live in the District/Michigan are strongly encouraged to apply.** Ideal start date is as soon as possible. Salary ranges from $4,500 to $5,500 per month.
Responsibilities:
-
Recruiting, training, and managing volunteers to advance voter outreach goals
-
Work with the Organizing Director to manage goals and health of our volunteer coalition from start date until Election Day
-
Executing and training volunteers on canvassing, phonebanking, textbanking, absentee ballot chase, community presence, and voter contact best practices across the district
-
Other duties as assigned
No prior experience working on political campaigns is necessary, but successful applicants will have the following qualities:
-
Desire to build people around accomplishing big tasks, a can-do attitude, and being a good team player
-
Willingness to learn and adapt to new needs and priorities at anytime
-
Demonstrated ability to train and lead others while maintaining a positive attitude
-
Ability to live within the MI-08 Congressional District, with strong ties to the District/Michigan strongly preferred
-
Some level of experience with volunteering or working on previous campaigns is a plus
-
Access to a car, driver’s license, phone, and laptop
-
Ability to work long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends
-
Must be 18 years of age or older
