Finance Director Location: Texas (Austin preferred)

Salary: $6,500 to $7,500, commensurate with experience Employment Type: Full-Time Campaign Position

Job Description:

Vikki Goodwin for Texas is seeking a Finance Director to lead the campaign's fundraising operation for the 2026 General Election.

The Finance Director will work closely with the campaign leadership, candidate, and fundraising consultant to develop and execute a comprehensive finance plan that provides the resources necessary to build and sustain a winning statewide campaign. The Finance Director will oversee all aspects of fundraising operations, including donor cultivation, call time, events, finance staffing, and financial forecasting.

The ideal candidate is a strong fundraiser, strategic thinker, and relationship builder who can thrive in a fast-paced campaign environment.

Responsibilities:

Fundraising Strategy

● Work with the fundraising consultant, Deputy Campaign Manager, and candidate to develop and execute a comprehensive finance plan.

● Establish and track fundraising goals, benchmarks, and performance metrics.

● Build and implement strategies for major donor, PAC, labor, grassroots, digital, and event fundraising programs.

● Develop and maintain systems to ensure fundraising goals are met throughout the campaign.

Donor Management and Cultivation:

● Serve as a principal fundraiser with the Fundraising Consultant for the campaign by cultivating and maintaining relationships with donors, bundlers, endorsing organizations, labor partners, and other stakeholders.

● Identify, research, and prospect new donor opportunities.

● Develop and execute donor outreach and follow-up strategies.

● Manage donor stewardship efforts and ensure timely follow-up with supporters.

Call Time Program:

● Oversee and manage the candidate's call time program.

● Prepare call sheets, briefing materials, and follow-up plans.

● Work with finance staff and consultants to maximize fundraising productivity and efficiency.

● Track performance and recommend adjustments to improve results.

Finance Operations and Events:

● Plan and execute fundraising events in coordination with campaign leadership, consultants, supporters, and hosts.

● Expand and maintain donor databases and finance tracking systems.

● Work with campaign staff to ensure timely processing, tracking, and reporting of contributions.

● Coordinate fundraising meetings and donor engagement opportunities across the state.

Budgeting and Financial Planning:

● Work closely with the Campaign Manager to develop financial projections and cash flow plans.

● Monitor fundraising progress against campaign budget goals.

● Provide regular reporting on revenue, projections, and finance benchmarks.

● Help ensure the campaign has the financial resources necessary to meet strategic and operational objectives.

Team Management:

● Hire, train, and manage finance staff, interns, fellows, and future members of the finance team.

● Supervise finance consultants and vendors as assigned.

● Build systems and workflows to support a growing statewide finance operation

Qualifications:

● At least two cycles of campaign fundraising experience or equivalent experience in political fundraising, nonprofit development, labor, advocacy, or public affairs fundraising preferred.

● At least one cycle campaign fundraising experience as a Deputy Finance Director or higher.

● Demonstrated success raising funds from individual donors, PACs, organizations, or major donor networks.

● Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

● Experience managing call time programs and donor tracking systems preferred.

● Experience planning and executing fundraising events preferred.

● Experience managing staff, interns, fellows, volunteers, or consultants preferred.

● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

● Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

● Familiarity with campaign finance reporting and compliance requirements preferred.

● Texas political, fundraising, advocacy, labor, or nonprofit experience preferred but not required.

● Willingness to work evenings and weekends in a campaign environment.
