JOB DESCRIPTION

Friends of Sherrod Brown is seeking an Operations Assistant for the 2026 campaign cycle. This role is a key member of the Operations team and works closely with the Operations Director and Director of Advance & Scheduling to support the planning and execution of Senator Brown’s schedule, travel, events, and day-to-day campaign operations.

The Operations Assistant will help ensure that the Senator’s time is maximized, campaign events are executed successfully, and help with the day-to-day functions of the campaign. This position will regularly coordinate across campaign departments.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role requires the ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously, pivot quickly when circumstances change, and exercise discretion when handling confidential information.

This position is based in Columbus, Ohio, and might require travel throughout the state.

Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the Director of Advance & Scheduling in supporting the campaign’s advance and operations functions.

  • Support the planning and execution of campaign events, fundraisers, meetings, roundtables, press conferences, and candidate travel.

  • Assist with advance preparation for campaign events, including venue research, site logistics, staffing plans, and event briefing materials.

  • Prepare and distribute schedules, briefing documents, staffing memos, and other internal planning materials.

  • Assist with security planning and coordination for the Senator’s travel and campaign events.

  • Assist with day-to-day office operations, administrative projects, and logistical support for campaign staff.

  • Support staffing plans and logistical requirements for campaign events across departments.

  • Support scheduling, advance, briefing, and staffing calls as needed.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and self-starter mentality.

  • 1–2 years of professional experience in scheduling, operations, advance, government, political campaigns, advocacy organizations, or related fields.

  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Professionalism, discretion, and trustworthiness when handling confidential information.

  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and other scheduling and organizational tools.

  • Valid driver's license, access to a vehicle, and willingness to travel throughout Ohio.
