JOB DESCRIPTION
The Iowa Democratic Party is hiring a ** Deputy Training Director** for our 2026 coordinated campaign. The Deputy Training Director will manage and develop tools and processes to support the 2026 Coordinated Campaign in a battleground state. They will work to create, oversee, and support a training program for statewide operations. They will work with the Organizing Director in planning and implementing a statewide persuasion and mobilization program to elect Iowa Democrats up and down the ballot.
Iowa is a key state to Democrats taking back power both in state and at the federal level with highly competitive elections at all levels. The Training Director will report to the Organizing Director. This position is full-time, regular position through the end of November 2026. Salary is $6,500-$7,000. The position is based in Iowa, and requires regular travel. Remote work options will not be available for this position.
Position Responsibilities include:

Work with the Organizing Director to develop and execute a comprehensive training program for mid- and entry-level staff and volunteers, on required hard and soft skills

Collaborate laterally with Organizing Deputies to address the on-the-ground training gaps of staff and volunteers

Create and maintain clear organizational systems for tracking information, daily communications, and deliverables across Organizing verticals

Assist in the coaching and development of staff on an as-needed basis, supplementing Organizing leadership management when required

Lead and support regular statewide trainings both in person and virtually, including weekly webinars, staff onboardings, and retreats

Support program development and implementation through cohesive statewide structures

Motivate a large team of staff through building team buy-in to organizing goals, contributing to strong statewide culture, and providing growth opportunities

Manage additional projects for the organizing department such as relationships with volunteer groups, relational outreach, GOTV logistics, etc.

Qualifications:

Ability to synthesize complex information and concepts into digestible training materials for staff of various backgrounds and experience levels

Attention to detail, highly-developed organizational skills, and ability to communicate with stakeholders and laterals across departments

At least 2 cycles of organizing experience preferred

Understanding of Organizing programmatic goals, strategic imperatives, and ability to coach on the skills required of Field Organizers

Fluency with VAN, Mobilize, and other organizing tools is preferred

Ability to thrive in fast pace environment, work long hours including weekends, and manage high pressure situations

Willingness to travel as needed; access to a reliable vehicle and cell phone required
