JOB DESCRIPTION

The opportunity

Back-to-school season at flytedesk is always intense, especially in election years. In addition to our normal brand advertising work, we’ll be working with some of the biggest names in politics and advocacy to turn out youth voters for the midterm elections. The 2026 elections will be extremely consequential, competitive, and expensive, and the youth vote will be a critical deciding factor.

The Political Intern/Coordinator will support efforts across the company that enable our ability to deliver high-quality campus advertising campaigns to political and advocacy clients. The cross-functional work will expose the Political Intern/Coordinator to many streams of work and teams, including but not limited to client services, account management, sales, research, fulfillment, and the campus partnerships team.

This position is designed for individuals who care deeply about politics, data, and media and want to be on the front lines in 2026. We offer fair warning that elections can be challenging and time-intensive work, but this experience is an opportunity to make an impact by helping organizations reach and engage the college audience. It is a great crash course for future work in the media industry, at an advertising agency, or in politics.

Job duties:

  • Analyze and synthesize political research. Draft political newsletters.

  • Write memos on new prospects ahead of meetings for the political sales team.

  • Support account managers in drafting client-facing materials including pitch decks and reporting materials.

  • Help aggregate and manage student directory contacts

  • Other projects as assigned.

About you

  • Excellent attitude and a willingness to tackle any and all tasks (no matter how large or small).

  • Capacity to multitask and meet deadlines.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Attention to detail and highly organized.

  • Ability to learn quickly and perform new skills with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Work well both independently as well as part of a high-performing, collaborative team.

  • Comfortable receiving feedback, and eager to grow and learn.

  • Personal drive for excellence and accountability.

  • Experience using Google Suites, Microsoft Excel.

Preferred:

  • Experience using MailChimp, SurveyMonkey, and/or Claude.

  • Experience with political campaigns, particularly paid media, research, and/or campus/youth vote work is a plus, and/or student media.

  • Completed some course work/training in data analytics (e.g., statistics course).

Who we are

flytedesk powers media and advertising on college campuses. We started flytedesk as the tool we needed at our college newspapers and have grown into the single largest funding source for student journalism. We use a data-informed approach and deep industry experience to help student media organizations thrive, not just survive, through targeted training resources, national advertising opportunities, and revenue-driving strategies. We’ll always be student media nerds — and that informs all we do. We know our audience better than anyone else. It’s our mission to help student media organizations become stronger and more sustainable for the long-term.
