Data Director, Chicago School Board Election
Reports To: OSA Campaign Manager
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Location: Remote (may include some travel to Chicago, IL)

Summary
The Data Director serves as the analytical backbone of the Our Schools Action Chicago campaign. Reporting to the Campaign Manager, this role is responsible for building and maintaining the data infrastructure, systems, and processes that allow information to move efficiently through modern campaign tools and technology. The Data Director will oversee reporting, analysis, and predictive modeling, and will train staff, candidates, and campaigns to use data and technology effectively, ensuring that every arm of the campaign can make informed, timely decisions.

Position Responsibilities

Build out OSA's data infrastructure, creating systems and processes that allow data to move efficiently through modern campaign tools and technology.

Work with the leadership team to develop regular reporting and ad-hoc analysis, including but not limited to voter registration trends, voter contact results, and predictive model validation.

Work collaboratively with other senior leaders on organizational-wide priorities.

Provide extensive training to help fellow staff members, candidates, and campaigns utilize data, technology, and VAN.

Coordinate closely with the key stakeholders to align data strategy with broader organizational priorities.

Maintain clean, accurate, and well-documented data systems across all campaign tools and platforms.

Serve as the primary point of contact for data-related questions, troubleshooting, and technical support across the campaign.
Primary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Experience working on electoral campaigns and a demonstrated understanding of what the data needs of campaigns are.

Experience using predictive models for targeting audiences.

Ability to explain complex data concepts to a non-technical audience.

Experience working across departments to develop data-driven strategies.

Proficiency with SmartVAN VAN/Votebuilder, Google Sheets/Excel, and SQL for managing large datasets (specifically Google BigQuery)

Experience with data visualization tools (such as Google Data Studio or Tableau).

Familiarity with organizing tools such as ThruText/ThruTalk, Reach, Mobilize, and similar platforms.
Secondary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Prior experience working within a union or labor organization.

Background in Chicago-area education or electoral politics.

Experience managing multi-district or multi-site campaigns.

Familiarity with voter contact and field organizing tools (e.g., VAN, Hustle).
Salary Range:$6,000-7,000/month, commensurate with experience
Benefits: Health + Wellness stipend of $500.00 per month to cover health insurance, dental care, vision care, and other related medical expenses.
Duration: Through November 2026, with potential to extend through March 2027
