JOB DESCRIPTION

About Us

Guardrails Action is a 501c4 organization aligning the policy and organizing coalition necessary to contend for power and pave the way for a future trajectory of AI that benefits everyone–not just the AI industry. Guardrails Action uses a four-pronged approach:

Policy: Advancing an AI agenda that puts people in charge of the tech that governs their lives

  1. ** Accountability Campaigning:** Holding policymakers accountable to a pro-regulatory agenda

  2. ** Inside-Outside Organizing:** Collaborating on with and between policy experts, movement leaders, and members of congress to win

  3. ** Grassroots Mobilization:** Ensuring the people most impacted by AI harms are at the forefront of policy debates.

We believe AI can be good for people and the world. But a future in which AI serves people requires rules, accountability, and a government that actually represents the public — not just its donors.

Job Description

We are seeking a ** Senior Organizer** to join our senior management team. The Senior Organizer will:

  • Organize a broad based group of high level grasstops towards an electoral strategy around AI bad actors––working with influential unions, grasstops, and member-driven groups to activate their bases to coordinate around this priority.

  • Represent the organization on national calls, in-person meetings and convenings.

  • Collaborate with the National Legislative Director on the development of federal legislative programs.

  • Foster and support relationships with local organizations in key states that are doing data center work, organizing around AI policing, etc. Create robust pipeline/connection between local organizing and national organizing priorities.

  • Execute high level electoral/field campaigns requiring deep understanding of communications, political strategy and cross sectional organizing.

  • Develop and manage the email program as an organizing tool in collaboration with the National Political Director.

  • Supervise and manage a team if needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of issue, electoral and organizing campaign experience, with a proven track record of effective implementation and wins.

  • Established relationships across the non-profit progressive sector and allied labor organizations.

  • Experience with facilitating diverse coalitions/groups.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to adapt messaging to a diverse range of audiences.

  • Ability to work independently, navigate obstacles, discern priorities, meet competing deadlines, and handle multiple projects.

  • Strong willingness to learn, adapt, take feedback, and implement changes in real time.

Compensation and Time Commitment

This is a full-time position with a salary of $140,000-$150,000 per year, commensurate with experience. We also offer a competitive benefits package, including: medical, dental, and vision insurance and a 401k match.
