JOB DESCRIPTION

About Us

American Experiments is a cultural communications and production house dedicated to reaching young, news-avoidant audiences across the new American media landscape. Since 2020, we have organized and grown a network of creators, celebrities, podcasters, and other communicators who deliver persuasive, progressive, and pro-democracy content into our audience’s newsfeeds every day. We believe that all actions, political or otherwise, are downstream from cultural attitudes, and focusing on cultural-first media will empower our movement to rebuild a winning coalition.

Position Overview

We're seeking a creative, relationship-driven ** Senior Content Associate** with approximately** 2–4 years of experience** to curate high-performing political content, work directly with creators to facilitate new opportunities, and track what's landing with our audiences. This role is ideal for a digital native who is fluent in creator culture, comfortable managing relationships independently, and able to work with data to understand what’s resonating with young, news-avoidant audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage relationships with creators and communicators for assigned projects or verticals, serving as their day-to-day point of contact.

  • Work with creators to facilitate content creation: sharing angles and guidance, coordinating timelines and assets, and delivering feedback so content ships on time and on-message.

  • Identify, curate, and distribute high-performing political and cultural content across our network.

  • Own content performance tracking and reporting for assigned initiatives, surfacing takeaways that shape what we make and amplify next.

  • Produce social-first video content with minimal oversight, including clipping, captioning, and light editing for platform fit.

  • Work alongside our research team to develop persuasive, factual, and engaging research and messaging materials for our network of communicators.

  • Engage with qualitative and quantitative testing to inform content and distribution decisions.

  • Actively contribute to editorial brainstorming and campaign development, bringing ideas grounded in what's working on-platform.

  • Monitor political and cultural news and creator conversations to spot timely content opportunities and activate around them.

Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in marketing, creator or influencer partnerships, digital media, communications, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage relationships directly and independently, with a collaborative, responsive working style.

  • Strong editorial instincts and a track record of identifying content that has the ability to be both persuasive and far-reaching.

  • Knowledge of the political and cultural creator ecosystem and current platform trends, formats, and internet culture.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, persuasive, platform-native messages.

  • Basic video editing skills; experience with tools like CapCut, OpusClip, or similar.

  • Comfort working with data such as platform analytics and message testing results to draw and apply practical takeaways.

  • Demonstrated ability to own recurring deliverables and manage multiple deadlines without close supervision.

  • Proficiency with tools such as Google Docs, Google Sheets, Canva, Slack, and Signal, and comfort using AI tools like Claude in workflows.

  • Interest or experience in political, progressive, nonprofit, or advocacy spaces.

  • Collaborative, respectful, proactive, and excited to build power for the progressive movement.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $65,000–$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt, remote position.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with 100% of employee premiums and 70% of dependent premiums covered by the organization

  • Life insurance for employees

  • 401(k) retirement account, with immediate eligibility upon hire (no employer match at this time)

  • Unlimited paid time off; we encourage all employees to take a minimum of 20 days per year in addition to paid holidays

This is a cycle hire role running through December 31, 2026. Continuation beyond that date may be considered based on organizational need, but is not guaranteed.
