JOB DESCRIPTION

CAMPAIGN MANAGER — MARYLAND STATE LEGISLATIVE CAMPAIGN

Compensation: $4,500/month

Type: Contract

Location: Hybrid; Eastern Shore of Maryland

Timeline: ASAP through November 3, 2026

ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN

A competitive Maryland state legislative campaign on the Eastern Shore is seeking an experienced Campaign Manager to lead a robust general election operation through Election Day.

The candidate is a lifelong Eastern Shore resident with a strong background in economic and community development and a focus on strengthening rural communities. Key campaign priorities include economic development, rural healthcare, environmental resiliency, critical infrastructure, and preserving the Eastern Shore's quality of life while supporting strategic economic growth.

Following a strong primary election performance, the campaign is building an aggressive general election operation across a large, geographically diverse district.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Campaign Manager to oversee day-to-day operations and help lead the campaign through the November general election.

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and organizer with experience developing and executing campaign plans, particularly field programs. This is a hands-on role requiring the ability to manage multiple priorities, work closely with the candidate and campaign team, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work closely with the candidate to develop and execute overall campaign strategy, budget, timeline, and benchmark goals through Election Day.

  • Manage day-to-day campaign operations, vendor relationships and contracts, administrative responsibilities, scheduling, and campaign logistics.

  • Coordinate with the campaign treasurer to ensure compliance with Maryland campaign finance reporting requirements.

  • Develop and manage the campaign's field program, including volunteer recruitment, canvassing, phone banking, peer-to-peer texting, voter contact, and events.

  • Collaborate with the candidate and campaign team to develop digital and print communications, including palm cards, mailers, print advertisements, long- and short-form video, social media graphics, and digital advertising assets.

  • Maintain a detailed calendar of endorsement opportunities and deadlines and assist the candidate with questionnaires and organizational outreach.

  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, elected officials, organizations, and other stakeholders to strengthen campaign coalitions.

  • Support the campaign's fundraising operation through donor research, candidate call time, fundraising events, and email communications.

  • Track campaign goals and provide regular updates on progress, challenges, and priorities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1–2+ cycles of political campaign experience, preferably on a state legislative or comparable race.

  • Strong field, organizational, and communications skills.

  • Advanced familiarity with NGP VAN/VoteBuilder.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute voter-contact and volunteer programs.

  • Experience with website platforms such as Squarespace and creating, editing, or managing web content.

  • Experience with Canva and video-editing platforms such as CapCut.

  • Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to independently manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.

  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, through Election Day.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle.

Ties to Maryland, familiarity with rural communities, Eastern Shore experience, and experience with digital campaign platforms such as Scale to Win are strongly preferred.
