JOB DESCRIPTION
Abdul for Senate is seeking talented candidates to work as a Social Media Manager for the
2026 election cycle. We are looking for passionate, hardworking individuals who are committed
to our mission of electing Abdul El-Sayed our next U.S. Senator.
Role Overview:
The Social Media Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Content and Creators with
daily content drafting, basic video editing and captioning, basic graphic design, and creator
management. This position reports to the Director of Content and Creators. This will be a full
time position based in Ann Arbor, MI, although there is flexibility with remote work and a
relocation timeline. This position offers compensation in the form of a monthly salary and
healthcare benefits.
Responsibilities:
● Draft written materials, including daily social media posts, video scripts, and memos.
● Monitor local and national news and social media discourse to identify emerging news
developments and social media trends
● Caption videos and other basic video editing
● Create basic graphic design materials on Canva
● Draft written materials, including video scripts and social media posts
● Staff campaign events, capturing iPhone photo and video content
● Pitch and coordinate with creators and new media
● Track digital performance metrics
● Other campaign needs as required
Qualifications (Required):
● Proficiency in graphic design using Canva
● A minimum of 2 years of work experience in political digital communications or relevant
required
● Must have transportation to attend events as needed
● Proficiency with Excel and Google Drive
● Proficiency in simple video editing and captioning
● Demonstrates ability to quickly craft compelling digital content across formats and
platforms
● Demonstrates deep familiarity with social media platforms and emerging trends
● Willingness to work irregular hours including nights and weekends
● Superior written and verbal communication skills
● Ability to learn new skills and take on new challenges, with a desire to learn and a
willingness to ask questions
● Ability to balance between competing priorities in a fast-paced, demanding environment
while maintaining exceptional organization and attention to detail
● Commitment to electing Abdul El-Sayed to the U.S. Senate
● Ability to demonstrate multicultural competence – the awareness, knowledge and skills
needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant
and productive ways
● Personal and professional commitment to promoting and investing in cross-cultural skills

● Previous experience working in Michigan politics is a plus
