JD Ford for Congress: Field Director

About the Campaign

State Senator J.D. Ford’s campaign for Indiana’s Fifth Congressional District is seeking a full-time Field Director. Recent polling shows that this is a highly competitive race. The key to winning will be introducing more people to J.D. Ford and getting out the vote. The best applicants will thrive in fast-paced environments, be well organized and self-motivated, and be an excellent communicator and problem solver. Knowledge of local and Indiana politics is a plus.

Position Summary

The Field Director will own the campaign's ground game from the day they start through Election Day. This is a senior role responsible for strategy, execution, and results. You will help build the field plan, lead the team, and be accountable for voter contact goals across the entire district.

Responsibilities

● Design and execute a comprehensive field plan through Election Day including

persuasion and GOTV

● Build and manage canvassing and phone banking programs at scale

● Recruit, train, and develop volunteer teams and precinct-level leadership

● Own VoteBuilder: targeting, turf cutting, data hygiene, and reporting

● In coordination with Campaign Chair, set weekly voter contact goals and hold yourself and your team accountable to them; utilize a number of tactics and tools to hit field goals and metrics

● Responsible for building team to distribute yard signs throughout the district

● Report progress and adapt strategy based on data and ground conditions

● Coordinate with campaign leadership, the party, and allied organizations

● Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements/Qualifications

● Must have minimum 1 cycle field experience

● Indiana ties are strongly preferred

● Proficiency in VAN/VoteBuilder required

● Organizational skills and ability to meet strict deadlines

● Proven ability to recruit and manage volunteers at scale

● Strong communicator with disciplined organizational habits

● Valid driver's license and reliable transportation as well as a phone and laptop

Logistics

● Pay is $4,000 per month, depending on experience

● This is an in person position based in central Indiana.

● This is a full time position and will require evening and weekend work, with hours increasing as the campaign approaches election day.

● The start date is ASAP.
