Job Description
The Vikki Goodwin for Lt. Governor campaign is seeking a Regional Organizing Director based out of Fort Bend or Southwest Harris County to lead the campaign’s regional persuasion and grassroots organizing program. This role is responsible for developing a robust volunteer leadership structure, executing direct voter contact programs, and representing the campaign across regional political and community spaces.
Responsibilities
Regional Organizing & Persuasion Program
-
Design and execute regional persuasion and voter contact programs including canvassing, phone banking, relational organizing, and community outreach.
-
Relational organizing
-
Recruit Vikki's supporters into a “relational first” program, giving every volunteer a clear, ambitious goal: a set number of friends and family to reach, persuade, and move to vote for Vikki.
-
Run weekly in-person relational organizing events.
-
Online-to-offline organizing
-
Run and grow virtual organizing DVC events (phone banks, friend banks, comment banks, DM banks), and fold it into your in-person work as one program.
-
Coach volunteers to organize their online communities: group chats, Facebook groups, Nextdoor, Discord, and their own social feeds.
-
Traditional field & GOTV
-
Run weekly in-person phone banks
-
Stand up block-walk canvasses as the campaign moves into early vote and Election Day.
-
Hit ambitious voter-contact and volunteer-recruitment goals across every tactic.
Volunteer Leadership
-
Build genuine trust with volunteers and treat them as the campaign's core voter-contact strategy. The campaign exists to support them.
-
Design a leadership ladder that grows volunteers into team leaders, captains, and regional leaders who can organize on their own.
-
Recruit and train host committees, run house parties, and lead regular volunteer trainings and organizing meetings.
Data & Accountability
-
Monitor voter contact, volunteer recruitment, and organizing benchmarks while maintaining strong data integrity across campaign systems.
-
Maintain strong data integrity with your program and across campaign systems, while capturing the qualitative story (what volunteers are hearing at the doors and in their group chats) that the numbers typically miss.
-
Surface what you're learning up the chain fast (a message that's landing, an attack ad that's sticking) so the campaign can adapt in real time.
Regional Strategy & Coalitions Building
-
Represent Vikki in the political and community life of your region.
-
Work closely with campaign leadership to develop regional organizing plans and priorities.
-
Monitor progress toward organizing goals and implement systems for accountability.
-
Coordinate with the Coordinated Campaign and allied organizations to maximize persuasion and turnout efforts.
Qualifications
-
At least one cycle of campaign or community organizing experience, or a comparable track record of building volunteer programs. We care more about how you think and what you've built than an exact number of cycles.
-
Comfort with voter-contact and organizing tools (VAN, dialers, texting, and relational platforms) and a willingness to learn ours quickly.
-
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
-
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle priorities in a fast-moving campaign.
-
Willingness to work evenings and weekends and travel within your region.
-
Willingness to perform all levels of organizing work. From door-to-door canvassing to leading strategy discussions at regional tables.
-
Spanish-English bilingual is strongly preferred, but not required.
