JOB DESCRIPTION

About the Race

Rick Crosson for Congress is the campaign to elect Rick Crosson to represent Wisconsin's 8th Congressional District. Rick is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel and Master Army Aviator with twenty years of service. WI-08 covers ten counties across Northeast Wisconsin, including Green Bay, Appleton, and the Fox Valley. The district is widely considered to be solidly red. In 2024 it went 57 to 43, a seven point shift with no party investment. We believe the remaining distance is reachable with the right organization on the ground. We are a lean, scrappy team and believe this district is flippable, especially this year, if we put the work in. If you like the underdog races, this one is for you.

What Will You Do?

Rick Crosson's campaign is seeking a part time Field Organizer to be responsible for coordinating the day to day volunteer operations of the campaign from September 1 through November 24, 2026. The position is based in Green Bay, WI, with travel likely throughout WI-08. Substantially remote eligible. Approximately 25 to 30 hours per week, including regular evening and weekend hours. Workload increases significantly during the final four weeks before the general election.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, launch, and manage volunteer programs including phone banking, text banking, postcard writing campaigns, and virtual events.

  • Create, staff, and maintain volunteer shifts and events in Mobilize, and ensure the public volunteer calendar remains accurate and current.

  • Recruit new volunteers through direct outreach, community events, and partner organizations, and follow up with every individual who expresses interest.

  • Retain and develop existing volunteers through consistent communication, clear assignments, and appropriate recognition.

  • Coordinate with the Wisconsin Democratic Party coordinated campaign to align volunteer activity and avoid duplication of effort.

  • Recruit and place volunteers to distribute campaign literature at community events, parades, festivals, and farmers markets throughout the district.

  • Track volunteer data, shift attendance, and voter contact metrics, and report results to campaign leadership on a weekly basis.

  • Support yard sign request intake, inventory tracking, and distribution logistics.

  • Represent the campaign professionally at community events and volunteer activities.

  • Have a valid U.S. Driver's License along with reliable transportation

  • Bring previous experience using VAN (Votebuilder), Action Network, Mobilize or the ability to quickly learn

Who Are You?

As a successful candidate for the job, you will:

  • Have a passion for progressive politics and the power of political organizing

  • Exceptionally well organized and strong time management skill

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with people from different backgrounds

  • Flexible, adaptable and solutions-oriented

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure

  • Willingness and ability to work collaboratively with candidates' campaigns running in other races throughout WI-08

  • Comfortable with using technology including SMS, social media platforms, and voter database

  • Ability to work long and irregular hours in a fast paced, metrics- driven work environment

  • Has access to a vehicle or other reliable transportation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Mobilize, VAN or VoteBuilder, and Action Network.

  • Prior experience in field organizing, grassroots organizing, volunteer coordination, community organizing, or labor organizing.

  • Prior campaign experience is helpful but is not required. Training will be provided on all campaign systems.

  • Ties to Northeast Wisconsin or familiarity with Wisconsin politics helpful.
