JOB DESCRIPTION

David Jolly’s campaign for governor is seeking a dedicated and hard-working deputy press secretary. The Deputy Press Secretary will be responsible for drafting written external and internal materials (including press releases, remarks, and memos) and will help support the communications team.

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to handle competing deadlines. Florida ties are preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Draft statements, op-eds, press releases and advisories, talking points, memos, and additional materials

  • Pitch campaign events to local outlets

  • Assist the communications team with day-to-day press operations including tracking media inquiries, executing events, and media monitoring

  • Maintain press lists, background documents, and other materials for the communications team

  • Monitor the news cycle and craft rapid-response statements and messaging

  • Assist with staffing campaign events

  • Assist with other communications duties as needed
