About the Role

The Distributed Organizer will build the volunteer pipeline for Hilario and the Our Schools slate. The job is straightforward: recruit people, get them signed up for phone and text banks, and keep them coming back. This organizer will own daily recruitment and follow-up, run virtual shifts, and keep volunteer data clean so the team knows where capacity is growing and where we need to push.

Core Responsibilities

• Make daily volunteer recruitment and follow-up calls and texts.

• Recruit from campaign supporter lists, events, digital outreach, and partner networks.

• Move interested supporters into scheduled phone banks, text banks, and other campaign shifts.

• Lead virtual phone banks and text banks for Hilario and slate candidates.

• Confirm volunteers before shifts and follow up with people who miss or cancel.

• Train volunteers on campaign messaging, voter contact tools, and shift expectations.

• Identify repeat volunteers and recruit captains who can lead recurring shifts.

• Keep volunteer recruitment, attendance, and shift data accurate and up to date.

• Track weekly recruitment, confirmation, attendance, and voter contact goals.

• Work with field staff to move volunteer capacity toward priority races and districts.

• Help run distributed Days of Action and campaign-wide voter contact pushes.

• Keep volunteers informed about upcoming opportunities by text and email.

• Flag recruitment challenges and volunteer capacity needs early.

Qualifications

• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

• Comfortable spending a significant part of the day on the phone and communicating by text.

• Able to make a direct volunteer ask and follow up consistently.

• Organized enough to manage a high volume of volunteer conversations without losing track of people.

• Comfortable working toward daily and weekly numbers.

• Able to work independently while staying accountable to the broader campaign plan.

• Campaign, union, community organizing, advocacy, or volunteer program experience.

• Experience with VAN, Mobilize, Scale to Win, ThruTalk, or similar platforms is a plus.

The Goal

Build a reliable group of volunteers who show up, come back, and help the campaign reach voters. A successful Distributed Organizer will turn first-time sign-ups into repeat volunteers, develop volunteer captains, and consistently deliver meaningful voter contact for Hilario and the Our Schools slate.

Schedule: This is an electoral campaign job. Evening and weekend work will be required, especially as Election Day approaches.
