Programs & Civic Engagement Manager

Role Overview

The Programs & Civic Engagement Manager will serve as the primary coordinator for One Voice’s leadership development and civic engagement programming. This role supports the Mississippi Black Leadership Institute (MBLI) and civic engagement initiatives, including the Activate Project, by managing logistics, alumni engagement, statewide meetings, and event execution.

This position is ideal for a highly organized professional with strong coordination and relationship-management skills who can ensure consistent program delivery across the state.

Primary Responsibilities

Mississippi Black Leadership Institute (MBLI)

• Coordinate MBLI alumni gatherings, trainings, and convenings

• Develop, maintain, and update the MBLI Alumni Manual

• Manage alumni communications, scheduling, and engagement tracking

• Coordinate speakers, facilitators, venues, and materials for MBLI events

Civic Engagement & Activate Project

• Support planning and execution of civic engagement initiatives, including the Activate Project

• Coordinate statewide meetings, trainings, and community events

• Facilitate MBLI alumni participation in civic engagement activities

• Document activities and outcomes for reporting and evaluation

Events & Sponsorship Coordination

• Coordinate outreach and follow-up with event sponsors and partners

• Manage event logistics, vendors, registrations, and on-site execution

• Ensure sponsor recognition and deliverables are fulfilled

• Support preparation of event materials and post-event reports

• Social Media account owner, take photos and submit to Comms and always look for social media strategy/engagement.

• Assistant to Strategic Initiatives Director on any other duties assigned.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years experience in program coordination, nonprofit operations, or civic engagement

• Strong organizational, logistics, and project management skills

• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities

• Comfort coordinating statewide meetings and public-facing events

• Familiarity with Mississippi’s civic or community landscape preferred

• Consistent documentation and reporting for funders and stakeholders

• Increased operational capacity within the Strategic Initiatives division

Pay: $40,000.00 per year
