About the role

Forward Blue is a grassroots-funded progressive PAC that raises money and builds power for bold Democrats nationwide and turns out low-propensity young voters.

We're hiring a Senior Digital Strategist to own day-to-day production of our fundraising program. You will take a fundraising push from idea to inbox: write or edit the copy, build the segments, set up and read the tests, QA every send, and report what worked. This is a cycle role with the opportunity to become permanent, with an estimated end date of November 30, 2028.

What you'll do

Production (most of your week)

• Write, edit, and fact-check fundraising, petition, and survey emails and SMS in our house voice.

• Build sends end-to-end in our email and SMS platforms: content, links, fundraising forms and refcodes, sender details, and scheduling.

• Build and maintain audience segments, suppressions, and send rules so each message reaches the right supporters.

• Run a written QA checklist on every send and own the fix when something slips through.

Testing and optimization

• Plan and run A/B tests on subject lines, senders, asks, formats, and send times, then pick winners and push them to the full list.

• Keep a testing log and turn results into concrete changes to copy and targeting.

• Propose new tests and tactics, and kill the ones that don't earn their place.

List health and reporting

• Monitor deliverability, inbox placement, and engagement, and manage onboarding, reactivation, and sunset streams.

• Produce weekly and campaign-level reports on revenue, list growth, and engagement for leadership.

• Work with consultants and vendors on paid list growth, ads, and outsourced fundraising, and hold them to clear targets.

• Be available for rapid response, including some nights and weekends when news breaks or deadlines hit.

What you bring

Required

• 4+ years (or two full cycles) on the email or SMS team of a campaign, PAC, advocacy group, or digital firm, with direct responsibility for small-dollar fundraising sends.

• Hands-on build experience in at least one mass email platform or CRM (ActionKit, NGP/EveryAction, Action Network, Switchboard, or similar). You have built sends and segments yourself, not just written copy for someone else to load.

• A track record of designing A/B tests, reading results correctly, and acting on them.

• Fast, clean fundraising copy, plus the editing and proofreading discipline to catch errors in other people's drafts.

• Comfort with spreadsheets for pulling, cleaning, and summarizing send and revenue data.

Preferred

• Experience with seven- or eight-figure digital fundraising programs.

• Broadcast and P2P SMS production.

• Basic HTML for email templates.

• Hex, SQL or a BI tool for self-serve reporting.

This role is probably not a fit if

• Your experience is mainly paid media, social, communications, or press. We value those skills, but this job is focused on fundraising efforts.

• You have written fundraising copy but have never built, segmented, or QA'd sends in the platform yourself.

• You are looking for a strategy-only role or a micromanaging leadership structure. This is a hands-on seat on a small team.

• You are early in your career or looking for your first political job. We'd love to hear from you for future junior openings.

Compensation and benefits

• Salary commensurate with experience: $65,000 to $75,000 per year
