Long Island Unites, a project of Teach NYS, is conducting a voter mobilization initiative to ensure the Jewish community’s voice is heard in the upcoming general elections. The campaign harnesses the passion, energy, and networks of connectors and institutions within the local Jewish communities in NY-CD 04 to ensure maximum voter participation. The campaign manager supports and complements a robust community-led grassroots and relational organizing effort.
Long Island Unites is hiring a campaign manager to mobilize the Jewish community of Long Island, specifically NY-CD 04. The campaign manager will work in person at the Long Island Voter Center in Lawrence. The campaign manager will oversee a field team focused on voter turnout through the November general election. The team will be fast-paced and goal-oriented, with daily metrics reporting.
Strong applicants will have experience canvassing and phone banking, a love of community organizing, and a lot of energy. Preference will be given to candidates with experience with these communities and the tools used on the campaign.
Role and Duties
- Oversee the Field team to ensure that goals are met
- Door-to-door canvassing using VoteBuilder, MiniVan, and Feedback (relational organizing) App
- Phone banking, phone bank training, and recruitment
- Recruit, manage, and train volunteers
- Engage in relational organizing, including training, and recruiting volunteers
- Plan and execute volunteer events
- Build relationships within communities
- Maintain the highest regard for data integrity and data security
- Participate in daily goals setting meetings with manager
- Track and report progress in tools as required
- Manage the Voter file, cut turf and perform data entry
- Staff the field office in 5 Towns
- Any relevant tasks needed to support field operation
Job Requirements
- Prior organizing experience preferred (paid, volunteer, or internship)
- A background in VoteBuilder and MiniVan preferred
- Experience with relational organizing tools preferred
- Full availability for nearly all the period of engagement is required
- Ability to work long and unusual hours (some weekends and nights, especially leading up to the election)
- Detail-oriented
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a team
- Access to a reliable vehicle and ability to drive is preferred
- Positive attitude and a commitment and passion to voter engagement
Compensation and Job Type This is a 3-month 1099, full time, consulting role. Salary range for this position, full time: $7,500 - $8,250 per month.````
