Location: Annapolis & District 21 (Prince George’s & Anne Arundel Counties)

Overview:
Senator Jim Rosapepe seeks a strategic, organized, and highly motivated Chief of Staff to lead day-to-day operations of the Senate office. This role is central to advancing the Senator’s legislative agenda, managing a high-performing team, and overseeing communications and constituent services across both the Annapolis and district office.
The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong leadership skills, sound political judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Office Leadership & Staff Management
- Oversee daily operations of the Senate office
- Manage office budget and internal systems. Supervise staff, including hiring, training, and performance management
- Ensure strategic alignment across functions
Legislative & Policy Strategy
- Serve as senior advisor to the Senator on policy and political matters
- Manage legislative priorities, bill development, and sponsorships
- Oversee committee hearing preparation, floor activity, and policy briefings
- Track relevant legislation and brief the Senator on emerging issues
Constituent Services & Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate district office operations and serve as point of contact for major constituent issues
- Act as liaison to key external stakeholders, including elected officials, state agencies, advocacy groups, and constituents
- Ensure effective delivery of constituent services and district engagement
Communications Oversight
- Approve outgoing communications including newsletters, social media, press releases, and constituent mail
- Ensure consistent messaging aligned with the Senator’s legislative goals and public image
Scheduling & Logistics Support
- Collaborate with the Executive Aide on scheduling and travel
- Represent the Senator in meetings and public events as needed
- Support campaign-related planning and event execution in coordination with campaign staff
Confidential & Sensitive Issue Management
- Handle sensitive and high-stakes matters with discretion and professionalism
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in legislative affairs, public policy, or political strategy (state or federal level preferred)
- Exceptional organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently, manage complex projects, and lead a collaborative team
- Strong political judgment and discretion with sensitive information
- Maryland ties and/or familiarity with the General Assembly are strongly preferred
