Data Associate (2026 Michigan Coordinated Campaign)

Description
The Michigan Democratic Party is seeking a Data Associate based in Detroit, MI, to support Democratic campaigns up and down the ballot during the 2026 midterm elections. This role will help maintain campaign data, build reports and dashboards, support organizers and voter access staff, and generate insights that inform campaign strategy. This is a critical role on the Data team that works closely with colleagues across departments to support the programs that elect Democrats up and down the ballot.This position is full-time and based in Detroit, Michigan.
Key Responsibilities & Characteristics
- Prepare and analyze datasets to extract meaningful campaign insights
- Build and maintain reporting products and visualizations in line with programmatic priorities
- Work with a cohesive team to execute projects with accuracy, attention to detail, and timeliness
- Support both Organizing and Voter Access teams’ use of online tools
- Respond to data support requests and flags
- Other tasks as needed in support of the Coordinated campaign
Qualifications
- 1+ years of professional or educational experience working with complex data sets
- Campaign experience, preferably on a data team
- Experience using SQL and demonstrated proficiency with Google Sheets (including formulas, pivot tables, and lookups)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to thrive in a fast paced work environment and juggle many priorities
- A desire to ask questions, receive constructive feedback, and grow as a professional
- Ability to implement creative solutions to unique problems
- Commitment to equity and inclusion in working with staff and other stakeholders
- Capacity and desire to work long hours in a campaign setting
Additional Useful Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with political or voter file data
- Familiarity with campaign tools such as VAN, Scale To Win, and Reach
- Experience using Google BigQuery, Looker Studio, or Hex
- Experience volunteering or working on a political campaign
- Experience with Python, R, or other programming languages is a plus
Salary, Benefits, and Logistics
The salary range is $5,000 per month, and the position will conclude November 15th, 2026. This position includes a full benefits package of health, vision, and dental insurance coverage.
