The Minnesota DFL is hiring a Deputy Campaign Manager to support statewide DFL candidates and campaigns. This person will work closely with the Campaign Manager to oversee daily operations and strategy, and help ensure DFL campaigns run smoothly and efficiently. This is a full-time position through Election Day.

Location: Twin Cities metro area, MN (in-person hybrid)
Salary: $6,000/month
Status: Full-time employee of the Minnesota DFL Party with health and dental benefits

Roles and responsibilities

The Deputy Campaign Manager will be responsible for helping the Campaign Manager build successful statewide campaigns. Tasks may include:

  • Working directly with the Campaign Manager to implement a winning political strategy;
  • Writing and implementing a DFL campaign’s social media and communications plan;
  • Representing a DFL campaign at public events, like parades or county fairs;
  • Recruiting, training, and retaining grassroots volunteer teams and leaders;
  • Staffing a DFL candidate at events, including driving;
  • Creating detailed briefs for events and communicating with hosts;
  • Canvassing and phone banking likely voters for the DFL coordinated campaign;
  • Distributing DFL candidate yard signs and assorted campaign materials;
  • And other duties as assigned.

Required experience and skills

  • Proven political campaign experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented with a track record of success in high pressure environments
  • Self-starter who’s comfortable working with diverse groups of people
  • Ability to think creatively and solve problems
  • Commitment to DFL values, including diversity and inclusion
  • Willingness to work weekends and long or irregular hours
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout the state (access to a car and valid driver’s license)

Preferred experience and skills

  • Prior professional communications or media experience
  • Prior experience on an electoral campaign in Minnesota
  • Personal ties to Minnesota
