About the Minnesota DFL Party

Democrats across the country have looked to the Minnesota DFL Party as a model for how to win elections and improve people’s lives. For more than eighty years, the Minnesota DFL has worked tirelessly to enact progressive policies and provide a platform for those who need it most. We believe that every Minnesotan has a right to stable employment with fair wages, to a proper education, to raise and provide for a family, to accessible and affordable health care, to live in safe communities, and to retire with dignity and security.

Position Overview

The Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor (DFL) Party is hiring a full time videographer who will play a key role in creating compelling organic-first videos and collecting a wide range of content directly from Minnesotans. We’re looking for someone who can shoot, edit and produce a constant stream of sharp, unfiltered video to power a simple narrative. You will be able to turn real moments into compelling, social-first and paid-ready video (fast!).

This role will support DFL-endorsed candidates across Minnesota.

This role sits at the intersection of video, digital, and paid media. You’ll capture everything from major events to small-town conversations and deliver same-day clips, next-day edits, and narrative pieces that define the race. If you want to join an exceptional team and can move fast, think like a storyteller, and operate in high-pressure political environments, this role is for you.

You must be able to capture the voice of our campaigns and connect them to a variety of audiences across Minnesota. You will be an ambassador for them and have direct engagement with Minnesotans. The ideal candidate is quick on their feet, a creative problem solver, cares about politics as a means to improve people’s lives, and is excited to join us for a fast-paced campaign built by Minnesotans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture high-quality video of candidates, surrogates, events, and communities across Minnesota, working closely with Advance and Communications teams to anticipate and document key moments.
  • Produce rapid-turnaround video content, including same-day and next-day edits, soundbites, b-roll, and platform-native content for social media, email, press, fundraising, and paid media.
  • Identify and tell compelling voter-centered stories through interviews, testimonials, and field footage that support persuasion, engagement, and campaign messaging.
  • Manage video production workflows, including organizing footage, maintaining a shared media library, tracking approvals and edits, and supporting production logistics as needed.
  • Collaborate across campaign departments to meet communications, research, rapid response, and political needs while identifying creative opportunities to strengthen the campaign’s brand and outreach.

Who You Are

You are someone who thrives in fast-paced, mission-driven environments and brings a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to your work. You believe in the DFL’s values and are excited to contribute your skills to making change in Minnesota.

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • A commitment to the values of the DFL Party and electing Democrats at every level
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • A flexible, “all-hands-on-deck” mindset
  • A demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and identities

Additional qualifications that will help you succeed in this role:

  • 2–6+ years of experience shooting and editing video in campaigns, news, documentary, or other fast-paced field environments, with strong political storytelling instincts.
  • Proven ability to film, edit, and deliver high-quality content under tight deadlines, including experience working alongside candidates, press, and advance teams.
  • Strong proficiency in video editing software, including Adobe Premiere and Audition; experience with After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, or Descript is a plus.
  • Technical expertise in audio capture, lighting, mobile production setups, and creating content optimized for multiple platforms, aspect ratios, and formats.
  • Comfortable with extensive travel, irregular hours, and engaging with diverse communities; committed to the mission of bringing people together and improving the lives of Minnesotans.

Don’t meet every single requirement? We encourage you to apply anyway. Studies show that women, people of color, LGBTQ individuals, and members of other underrepresented communities often hesitate to apply unless they meet every qualification. At the DFL, we are committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of Minnesota — including people of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, abilities, and backgrounds. We believe our party and our work are stronger when everyone is included and empowered.

Compensation & Benefits

This is a temporary, Full-time, Cycle position through November, 2026 position. The DFL offers a competitive benefits package, including:

  • Starting at $6,500/mo (higher based on experience). Paid on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Competitive benefits package including health care and dental
  • Professional development opportunities
