ABOUT NAPAWF
Founded in 1996 by 100 Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) women, NAPAWF (National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum) is the only organization dedicated to empowering AAPI women and girls and gender non-conforming folks to impact policy and drive systemic change in the U.S. NAPAWF is building a movement for social, political, and structural change by building a multilingual, multigenerational membership that encompasses the diversity of the AAPI community.

POSITION SUMMARY
Position Summary
The Director of Grants and Budget Management is responsible for leading NAPAWF's grant financial management, organizational budgeting, financial planning, forecasting, and compliance functions. This position serves as a strategic liaison between Programs, Development, Finance, and Executive Leadership to ensure grant-funded activities and organizational resources are managed effectively and in alignment with NAPAWF's mission and strategic priorities.
The Director oversees grant budgeting, financial reporting, subaward management, budget monitoring, forecasting, and organizational budget planning. The position plays a key role in strengthening financial stewardship, improving cross-departmental coordination, enhancing budget accountability, and ensuring leadership has timely and accurate financial information for decision-making.
This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer and works in close partnership with the Director of Finance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Grants Financial Management
- Lead development of grant proposal budgets in partnership with Development, Programs, and Finance.
- Review funding opportunities and provide guidance regarding budget feasibility, staffing assumptions, indirect cost recovery, and compliance requirements.
- Monitor grant expenditures and spending trends.
- Prepare and review grant financial reports.
- Maintain grant budget tracking systems and spending forecasts.
- Support grant modifications, budget revisions, and no-cost extension requests.
- Monitor restricted funding utilization.
- Ensure compliance with funder requirements and applicable regulations.
Budget Development and Financial Planning
- Lead the annual organizational budgeting process.
- Coordinate departmental budget development and review.
- Develop quarterly forecasts and multi-year financial projections.
- Conduct scenario planning and financial modeling.
- Prepare budget analyses and recommendations for Executive Leadership.
- Provide monthly budget-to-actual reporting.
- Analyze revenue and expense trends.
- Support long-term financial sustainability planning.
Subaward and Contract Management
- Oversee financial management of subawards and pass-through funding agreements.
- Monitor subrecipient reporting, invoicing, and compliance.
- Collaborate with Programs, Legal, and Finance on contract development and review.
- Maintain systems and documentation supporting subaward monitoring and compliance.
Executive and Board Reporting
- Prepare monthly and quarterly budget-to-actual reports for Executive Leadership.
- Develop dashboards, KPIs, and financial reporting tools.
- Present financial and grant performance information to leadership and Board committees.
- Identify financial risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Support Finance Committee and Board reporting processes.
Systems and Process Improvement
- Develop and maintain organization-wide budget monitoring tools.
- Improve grant management, forecasting, and reporting systems.
- Establish procedures that strengthen budget accountability across departments.
- Partner with Finance to improve reporting and forecasting processes.
- Recommend and implement process improvements that enhance operational efficiency.
Leadership and Cross-Functional Partnership
- Serve as a strategic partner to Program, Development, and Finance leaders.
- Lead cross-functional budget planning, forecasting, and grant management efforts.
- Provide technical assistance and training to staff on grant budgeting, financial stewardship, and compliance.
- Facilitate coordination among departments.
- Develop tools, systems, and processes that strengthen budget accountability and financial decision-making.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and responsible stewardship of organizational resources.
SALARY & BENEFITS
The annual salary range for this position is $120,000–$135,000- salary commensurate with experience.
