POSITION SUMMARY
The Accountant is responsible for processing all of the components of weekly accounts payable, semi-monthly payroll, daily cash receipts and accounts receivable. The candidate will have a strong working knowledge of accounting and report modules, billing and cash receipts procedures, and general accounting principles. The person in this role will provide accounting support to NCJW’s leaders in locations in which finances are being integrated with NCJW’s systems. This role reports to NCJW’s Associate Director of Finance and is expected in the Washington, DC office 2-3 days a week.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Payable
- Assist Associate Director of Finance as accounts payable contact for vendors, management, and program directors, and maintain vendor records in the accounting system.
- Provide accounting support for finance transfer processes.
- Review for correctness and processes payments of invoices in bill.com, the accounts payable platform.
- Maintain vendor information and assist Associate Director of Finance in preparing annual 1099s.
Payroll
- Assist in processing semi-monthly payroll for approximately 30-35 employees, including employees with multiple distributions.
- Help maintain payroll payment records that meet federal and funder requirements.
- Monitor employee payroll input for proper allocation of time.
- Aid in preparing, reconciling, and distributing recurring payroll reports including vacation, pension and insurance accruals.
- Support the Associate Director of Finance as the liaison to BambooHR, ensuring payroll and tax reporting systems are kept up to date.
Employee Credit Cards
- Review all corporate credit card reconciliations for receipts, correct coding, and proper descriptions.
- Reconcile corporate credit card balances to the general ledger and maintain a schedule of outstanding statement reconciliations.
- Download and reconcile corporate credit cards, preparing and posting journal entries to record.
Accounts Receivables
- Work with the development department to review, close, and post all cash batches.
- Download daily online web and credit card activity, reconcile to Stripe, and research discrepancies.
- Review weekly revenue reports and coordinate with the development department regarding the status of open batches.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of 3-5 years of related professional experience in accounting or full charge bookkeeping.
- Experience in A/P, A/R, cash receipts, and routine account reconciliations in a complex cost center environment strongly preferred.
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel and solid proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically in Adobe, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong proficiency with Quickbooks or similar accounting systems, particularly accounts receivable and general ledger modules.
- Ability to maintain accurate and well-organized accounting records.
- Capacity to prioritize, meet deadlines, make good decisions, and stay organized.
- Cooperative, friendly, and helpful attitude with clients and co-workers.
- Demonstrated experience working across departments with all levels of staff.
- Ability to thrive in a flexible, fast-paced and growth-oriented environment, while maintaining a sense of humor and a positive, solutions-oriented approach.
- Ability to work independently and in a team setting.

Salary and Benefits
Salary range: $60,000-$70,000 annually — commensurate with experience.
