Internship
The National Democratic Training Committee (NDTC) is looking for paid interns for the Fall 2024 semester to assist with our daily operations and goal of empowering Democrats who want to run for office. NDTC runs a comprehensive training program in all 50 states through both virtual and in-person programming. To date, NDTC has trained over 100,000 people and over 1,400 candidates in the 2020 election cycle alone.
NDTC is a fully remote workplace, with staff located in the below states. Interns must live or attend school in one of the below states: DC, GA, IL, NC, NJ, TN, VA, WA. NDTC is not able to offer employment to temporary staff who do not live in one of these states.
This $17.50/hr paid internship program offers hands-on experience working collaboratively with team members on a variety of projects that support a growing organization. All interns can expect to utilize their research, writing, communication, and administrative skills throughout their time at NDTC.
Available Internship Opportunities

NDTC will then match interns with a specific position based on their skills and interests, along with the organization’s needs.
Curriculum Team Intern
The Curriculum Team is made up of Instructional Designers who manage and develop all NDTC curriculum. The team’s responsibilities include production of content like courses, training decks, and curriculum maps (syllabi), as well as supplementary materials like assessments and learner resources. This includes content for learners who use the Online Academy, as well as learners who take our Virtual Live Trainings.
Responsibilities for Curriculum Team Intern:
- Locate and review all in-use handouts and worksheets in the NDTC Resource Library
- Research web-based campaign and election resources and tools for inclusion into the Resource Library
- Create summaries and descriptions of election tools available online
- Update & perform quality assurance on edited and newly developed resources
Marketing Team Intern
The Marketing Team is an integrated powerhouse made up of three core areas: data, content, and digital (which consists of email and text). As a collaborative team, Marketing drives recruitment for NDTC and helps learners understand how to best use the resources NDTC provides to meet their political goals. Marketing interns work with the marketing team to craft engaging, original copy sent in our social, email, and texting programs, create send strategy and schedules, and set up backend email production.
Responsibilities for Marketing Intern:
- Monitor social media platforms for engagement/campaign opportunities
- Assist with the ideation and execution of social media campaigns
- Create content such as social media copy, graphics, and short-form videos for distribution
- Research, brainstorm, and write original email drafts for training events and opportunities
- Interface with NDTC learners and users through text marketing and outreach
- Assist with NDTC’s candidate tracking operation, which includes identifying NDTC’s candidates, determining election results, and gathering user profile information/activity
People Operations Intern
The People Operations department plays an integral role in NDTC’s overall stability and growth and is responsible for maintaining and improving organizational systems, processes, and day-to-day operations. By supporting the employee experience, engagement, and productivity, People Ops help shape an equitable and inclusive company culture.
Responsibilities for People Operations Intern:
- Monitor communications for a high volume of internal and external emails for multiple organizational wide accounts
- Conduct research, write, and present proposals to contribute to operational strategic planning. Past examples included researching new HR compliance firms, Employee Performance review processes, updated COVID-19 guidelines, and college recruitment resources.
- Create engaging content for quarterly newsletters and collaborate within NDTC to create staff and intern spotlights
- Lead the effort in shaping the positive culture within the overall internship program by facilitating a weekly internship meeting space and activities that foster professional development, engage in cross-team conversations, and provide overall support for interns
Strategic Partnerships Team Intern
The Strategic Partnerships team works to engage supporters across the country interested in investing in NDTC and its mission. Strategic Partnerships collaborates with the CEO on strategy and external affairs as they relate to fundraising and building the national profile of NDTC.
Responsibilities for Strategic Partnerships Intern:
- Research prospects & event attendees to build our lists and connect with people willing to donate their time, talent and treasure
- Maintain our CRM (customer relationship management system) to ensure all engagement points remain accurate and current to make it easier when connecting with prospects and donors
- Assist in drafting monthly newsletter to VIP partners to keep them updated on the goings-on of NDTC
- Provide support to our Curriculum team by assisting in reading and testing new and revised course content for NDTC’s external audience, uploading new course content into our Learning Management system, and collaborating to create learning materials like worksheet, resources, guides, etc.
- Provide support for our Candidate Connect Program by assisting with candidate research, tracking, and communication.
Internship Details
The fall internship will run from September 5, 2024 – December 13, 2024. Internships with NDTC are paid $17.50 per hour with an expected commitment of at least 16–25 hours a week. We are generally flexible with school schedules, but all interns must work within our Monday – Thursday, 9am – 5pm CST, and Friday 9am – 2pm CST business hours.

Ideal Candidates:
- Interns must be efficient, well-organized, and have a sense of humor.
- We do not expect interns to come in and know everything, but we do expect an enthusiasm to learn and be a part of our team.
- We are looking for people who can multitask, work well with deadlines, follow the news, and are strongly committed to Democratic ideals.
- Candidates with excellent oral and written communication skills are preferred.
- Any campaign experience is highly desirable!
