Voter Protection Director

Reports To: General Election Director
Position Overview: The Voter Protection Director is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive statewide voter protection program. This role ensures that all eligible voters are able to cast a ballot and have that ballot counted by proactively identifying and addressing barriers to voting. The role will lead efforts to expand voter access, oversee Primary and Election Day protection programs, and serve as the primary point of contact for legal, administrative, and strategic responses to voter suppression or election-related issues.
Core Responsibilities
Voter Protection Strategy & Program Development
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, statewide voter protection strategy across all phases of the election cycle
- Identify and address barriers to voting, including voter access, election administration challenges, and policy changes
- Monitor and analyze changes to election laws, regulations, and procedures
- Serve as a key advisor to campaign leadership on voter protection strategy and risk mitigation
- Support hiring, onboarding, training, and professional development of voter protection staff
Election Protection Operations
- Oversee the planning and execution of voter protection programs, including poll watching, hotline, and boiler room operations
- Establish systems for real-time issue tracking, escalation, and resolution during early vote and Election Day
- Coordinate deployment of volunteers, attorneys, and staff to priority locations
- Develop and manage protocols for responding to voter suppression, intimidation, or election irregularities
Stakeholder Engagement & External Relations
- Build and maintain relationships with election officials, legal partners, advocacy organizations, and national committees
- Serve as the primary liaison for voter protection efforts with partner campaigns and external stakeholders
- Engage with local and state stakeholders on election administration and voting access issues
- Represent the campaign in meetings, trainings, and public-facing voter protection efforts
Volunteer Recruitment & Training
- Recruit, train, and manage a statewide network of voter protection volunteers, including poll watchers and hotline staff
- Develop training materials and programs to ensure volunteers and staff are prepared to execute voter protection protocols
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to volunteers and staff
- Issue Management & Legal Coordination
- Serve as a statewide resource for triaging and resolving voting-related issues in real time
- Track, document, and escalate incidents to appropriate legal or campaign leadership channels
- Coordinate with legal teams on litigation, compliance, and response strategies
- Maintain awareness of ongoing legal developments related to voting rights and election administration
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
- 3-4 cycles of campaign, voting rights, legal, or advocacy experience
- Experience managing large-scale programs, volunteers, or operations
- Strong understanding of election law, voting rights, or election administration processes
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and respond to issues in high-pressure environments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience running or supporting a voter protection program
- Legal background or experience working with attorneys
- Experience working with election officials or Boards of Elections
- Familiarity with VAN/VoteBuilder and campaign data systems
- Experience in a battleground state or coordinated campaign
- Nevada experience is not required but is strongly encouraged
- Access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license
- Ability to move to Las Vegas, Nevada by May 18th, 2026
