Communications & Digital Associate

The Communications & Digital Associate is a key role in strengthening NHDP’s communications

and digital strategy. This position will work closely with the Communications Director and

communications intern(s) to support media outreach, social media, and digital organizing

efforts.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starting team player who is a strong writer with a good sense of

humor, has experience with photography and videography, and can produce quality work under

tight deadlines.

The Communications Associate will report to the Communications Director and collaborate with

the entire NHDP team to set strategic communications goals and help raise the New Hampshire

Democratic Party’s public profile. This position is based in Concord, New Hampshire.

Position Responsibilities Include:

● Develop engaging and timely social media copy to drive NHDP’s messaging.

● Draft and maintain social media content calendars.

● Assist in managing NHDP’s social media accounts.

● Support video and photo content creation for social media and press.

● Produce graphics, video clips, and other digital content as needed.

● Oversee the daily press clips process.

● Maintain and update NHDP’s press lists.

● Assist the Communications Director with press management, including media outreach

and press inbox oversight.

● Draft party communications, including media advisories, press releases, talking points,

and op-eds.

● Monitor news and social media for stories to uplift in Party communications, as well as

GOP stories to respond to.

● Stay attuned to media trends and key political issues.

● Join media prep sessions with the Party Chair and senior staff as needed.

● Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:

● A passion for social justice and a commitment to Democratic Party values;

● Minimum of 1 cycle of prior political/ communications experience;

● Must be creative, possess exceptional writing skills, and have experience in digital, social

media, and traditional communications mediums;

● Discretion and ability to work independently;

● Responsive and positive team player who enjoys new challenges;

● Excellent personal skills with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships;

● Great verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills, including attention to

detail;

● Desire to ask questions, receive constructive feedback, and grow as a professional;

● Commitment to equity and inclusion in working with staff and other stakeholders; and

● Be self-motivated and willing to work long hours, including nights and weekends, in a

fast-paced and high-pressure environment, and travel extensively throughout New

Hampshire as needed.

based on level of experience. The NHDP provides medical, dental, and vision coverage at no
