Coordinated Campaign Black Community Engagement Manager
Job Description: The New York State Democratic Committee seeks a Coordinated Campaign Black
Community Engagement Manager to join our team on Long Island, particularly in southern Nassau
County. The Black Community Engagement Manager will work closely with the organizing team to
engage, persuade, mobilize, and turn out Black voters. Ideal candidates will be highly motivated, creative
thinkers who are dedicated to electing Democrats up and down the ballot.
The Black Engagement Manager will:
● Develop an outreach plan for Black voters in Nassau County informed by demographics, cultural
nuances and organizational partnerships
● Cultivate relationships with small business owners, faith leaders, and other grassroots and
grasstops stakeholders
● Attend local meetings with activists and activist groups to work on coordinated constituency
events
● Host constituency-specific events including but not limited to: community events and
celebrations, relational organizing events, canvasses, phonebanks, and meetings
● Collaborate with the organizing team to recruit and train volunteers and volunteer leaders
● Recruit and manage local voices who can speak to key local issues
Ideal Experience and Characteristics:
● Previous political organizing experience preferred, with at least one cycle of experience
● Ability to work within diverse communities and experience organizing Black voters
● Must have access to a cell phone, vehicle and ability to relocate if necessary
● Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively and clearly communicate with other
organizers, activists and local leaders
● Highly organized and independent work style; a strong ability to multitask and communicate
Pay Range: $6,000/month plus benefits.
