THE ROLE:

NextGen America is currently seeking a Communications Intern to join our remote summer internship program, with an extension into the fall program. This internship is not limited to college seniors or recent graduates. We also invite and encourage experienced professionals who may be looking for a career change to apply.

This position will be part-time with an expected commitment of 20 hours per week. The ideal start date for this opening will be June 24, 2024 and will run through November 15, 2024.

HOW YOU WILL BENEFIT

  • Paid: an intern will be considered an hourly employee with a pay rate of $22/hour
  • Location: internships are fully remote and can work from anywhere within the United States

WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE:

  • Assist with core day-to-day activities of the Communications team
  • Assist with monitoring news stories and social media trends
  • Assist with researching, creating, and maintaining targeted press lists
  • Assist with drafting and editing press materials
  • Conduct comprehensive research to support the development of data-driven communication strategies
  • Provide fact-checking and copyediting support to members of Press Team, Digital Team, and Creative Team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

ABOUT YOU:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Drive applications
  • A passion for taking political action through the engaging with young people to stand up for progressive values and causes
  • A strong desire to obtain new skills and exposure to working in a professional environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to produce high-quality work under tight deadlines
  • Creative and flexible
  • Excellent team player

COMPENSATION:

NextGen America Interns are part-time, temporary employees with a set pay rate of $22/hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
