Senior Accountant

THE ROLE:

NextGen America is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented and proactive Senior Accountant to be an integral part of the Accounting team. This role will be responsible for full-cycle accounting, including managing the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, credit card statements and cash flow. A strong candidate will have a high attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills and strong customer service skills to support our program teams to carry out the mission of the organization.

This role will report to the Accounting Director and Controller.

This is a fully remote position with no location requirement. We encourage candidates from all locations within the United States to apply.

WHAT YOU’LL ACHIEVE:

  • Responsible for day-to-day management of the general ledger including reconciliations, entering journal entries, and ensuring proper revenue recognition
  • Drive the month-end close process, including cash and credit card reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accounting schedules are accurate and adjusting journal entries
  • Supporting monthly intercompany allocations process
  • Support year-end processes, including tax and 1099 filings
  • Support annual audits including financial, 401k and workers comp audits
  • Oversee semi-monthly payroll processing
  • Monitoring of account payable systems and ensuring items are processed in timely manner and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Assist with training supporting staff
  • Review and process invoices and reimbursement requests
  • Review credit card transactions and manage receipt collections
  • Collaborate with internal and external personnel for the purpose of implementing and/or maintaining programs and reporting expenditures
  • Provide support in explaining policy and procedures to staff
  • Provide support in financial reporting
  • Perform other duties as assigned

ABOUT YOU:

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting and applicable federal and state laws
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets
  • Background in or knowledge of finance and accounting
  • Strong analytical skills and some experience in financial modeling
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast paced environment
  • Willingness to work long hours, when necessary
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standards of confidentiality
  • Comfortable working remotely in a highly collaborative distributed workforce setting

COMPENSATION:

Salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000. The final base salary will be determined by various factors, including individual qualifications and internal parity, which will be objectively assessed during the interview process.
