A top-tier joint Assembly campaign in New Jersey seeks a full-time Legislative District Campaign Manager to lead efforts to elect two Democratic candidates to the NJ General Assembly in an assigned legislative district. The Campaign Manager will be an “at-will” employee of the New Jersey Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee (DACC) and assigned to a legislative district for each election cycle (June 2025 Primary and November 2025 General). The role runs from December 1, 2024, to November 30, 2025, with potential changes in district assignment after the June primary election.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage a comprehensive campaign plan, including setting data-driven goals, clear metrics, and program timelines.
- Lead efforts to expand grassroots support and build volunteer teams in targeted districts.
- Simultaneously manage two candidates running for the NJ General Assembly, ensuring coordination between the campaign and its partners to use resources efficiently and effectively.
- Act as a press and communications liaison, handling media inquiries, managing relationships with the press, and ensuring effective public messaging.
- Write speeches and draft communications for candidates and the campaign.
- Build strong working relationships with county, state, and municipal political entities.
- Hire, train, and manage a team of organizers and volunteers, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet campaign goals.
- Oversee campaign disbursements (vendor payments, payroll, etc.) and manage financial records.
- Collaborate with campaign leadership to integrate field, fundraising, and communications strategies.
- Design promotional materials and coordinate their distribution across digital and physical channels.
- Maintain communication with senior staff, candidates, and key stakeholders to ensure the campaign is on track to meet its goals.
- Handle additional campaign-related tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least one complete campaign cycle of candidate management experience.
- Experience managing paid staff in at least two campaign cycles and training teams.
- Experience managing a GOTV (Get Out The Vote) operation.
- Proven ability to write speeches and handle communications for political candidates.
- Experience working with the press and managing media relationships.
- Proficient in campaign tools, such as Canva, VAN/Votebuilder, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite.
- Knowledge of New Jersey politics and campaign finance laws, or the ability to quickly learn.
- Ability to work effectively with county, state, and municipal political entities.
- Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Must live in New Jersey, have a car, computer, and smartphone, and be available for in-person work during the campaign.
Responsibilities:
Work is primarily in an office setting, but travel within the state and across the legislative district is required.
