The New Jersey Democratic Assembly Campaign Committee (NJ DACC) seeks a highly motivated Digital Field Organizer to support key 2025 legislative assembly races. This position will focus on recruiting and managing volunteers while developing effective online communication strategies to enhance the campaign’s digital presence. The role runs from January 10, 2025, to November 30, 2025, with potential changes in district assignment after the June primary election.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Recruit, train, and manage a robust volunteer team to support campaign activities such as door-to-door canvassing, phone banking, and voter engagement events.
- Establish relationships with community leaders, local organizations, and constituency groups to foster collaboration and expand outreach efforts.
- Coordinate and execute voter contact strategies, including canvassing, phone banking, and community outreach, focusing on maximizing voter turnout.
- Develop and manage the campaign’s online presence, including social media platforms, to effectively communicate campaign messaging and engage with volunteers and voters.
- Create and implement strategies to motivate volunteers to share campaign messaging across digital platforms, ensuring consistent outreach and engagement.
- Regularly communicate with campaign staff, local elected officials, volunteers, and stakeholders through both in-person meetings and digital communication channels.
- Assist in planning and executing field events, including town halls, rallies, and voter registration drives, while promoting these events through digital platforms.
- Track volunteer activities and voter outreach metrics, providing regular updates and reports to the Field Director and campaign leadership.
- Adapt to the changing needs of the campaign and take on additional tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- One year of campaign experience or equivalent experience in community organizing or volunteer management.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate and engage with volunteers through digital channels and social media platforms.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a track record of motivating and engaging volunteers and community groups.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Canva, and voter database systems; experience with social media management tools is a plus.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel within the legislative district.
- Commitment to Democratic values and the mission of electing Democratic candidates.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with constituency groups, especially those underrepresented in the political process.
- Knowledge of organizing tools and social media platforms.
- Bilingual or multilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
The Digital Field Organizer role involves office work and substantial time spent in the field. While some tasks include working from the campaign office (e.g., coordinating volunteer activities, tracking data, and reporting), the majority of responsibilities require direct, on-the-ground outreach. Key physical requirements include:
- Mobility: Ability to frequently travel between various locations within the district, such as canvass sites, community events, and field offices.
- Stamina: Long hours, including evenings and weekends, spent outdoors and indoors, which may involve extended periods of walking during door-to-door canvassing, volunteer recruitment, and voter contact efforts.
- Event Support: Assisting with the setup and breakdown of canvass launches, volunteer stations, and community outreach events.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills to effectively engage voters, volunteers, and community stakeholders.
This position requires physical endurance and the flexibility to adapt to a variety of work environments, from canvassing neighborhoods to assisting at campaign events.
