Pay: Typically $4,500-$5,500/month, depending on program and experience
Classification: Temporary, Exempt or Non-Exempt depending on the position and applicable law
North Shore Strategies is building a nationwide network of experienced Organizing Directors to lead grassroots field programs for Democratic candidates and causes. We are not currently hiring for a specific position, but we regularly launch campaigns across the country and want to connect with strong organizers before opportunities become available.
We are looking for dependable, solutions-oriented leaders who can build strong teams, manage fast-paced field operations, and consistently deliver results.
About the Role
As an Organizing Director, you will oversee the day-to-day execution of a campaign’s field program. You will be responsible for recruiting and managing staff, implementing field strategy, monitoring performance, maintaining accurate data, and ensuring that program goals are met.
The ideal candidate is an organized and adaptable manager who can motivate a team, solve problems quickly, and maintain high standards in a demanding campaign environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage daily canvassing, petitioning, voter registration, or other voter-contact operations
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and support field managers and canvassers
- Translate campaign strategy into clear daily and weekly field goals
- Monitor staff attendance, productivity, data quality, and overall performance
- Conduct regular quality-control checks and address performance concerns promptly
- Lead daily trainings, shift launches, debriefs, and team meetings
- Maintain accurate staffing, payroll, scheduling, and program records
- Submit timely reports on staffing, voter contact, challenges, and progress toward goals
- Coordinate with campaign leadership, clients, vendors, and North Shore Strategies staff
- Ensure compliance with campaign policies, employment requirements, and applicable election laws
- Maintain a safe, respectful, professional, and results-driven workplace
- Identify operational challenges and implement practical solutions
Qualifications
- Previous experience managing political canvassing, petitioning, organizing, voter registration, or other field programs
- Demonstrated experience recruiting, training, and managing staff
- Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
- Highly organized and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
- Comfortable using campaign data, reporting, and voter-contact platforms
- Able to analyze performance and hold staff accountable to measurable goals
- Willing to work evenings, weekends, and irregular campaign hours
- Willing to travel or temporarily relocate when required by a program
- Reliable access to a computer and smartphone
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation may be required for some programs
- Commitment to supporting Democratic candidates and causes
- Experience with MiniVAN, VAN, or similar campaign tools is preferred
