We’re looking for a tech-savvy and responsive Advocacy Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in support of one specific tech-focused client. You will join two other members of this team as they help manage grassroots outreach, research projects and other relevant advocacy/policy initiatives. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of advocacy software, engagement platforms, a background in government or political campaigns, and a high level of discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement: Work closely with the client’s advocacy team to mobilize community members through a variety of digital channels, like email marketing, advocacy software and more, as well as more traditional organizing, like call campaigns, to support projects and calls-to-action.
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct research on local and regional regulations, watch and summarize council and committee meetings, etc. for internal knowledge and use. Assist with database research to inform policy teams on municipality or general issues, work on public records requests, etc.
  • Escalations Support: Help facilitate rapid response between members of the advocacy team and internal customer support channels, in the event of external contacts needing additional support navigating resolutions.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years in advocacy, public policy, or marketing. At least 2 years in government, government relations or political campaigns.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, a detail-oriented nature and a high level of responsiveness.
  • Technical: Experience with MixMax, Phone2Action or other advocacy or CRM tools a must. Experience with Salesforce or Superset a plus.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, or a related field.

Contract Details

  • Length: 3 to 6 months, with the potential for extension.
  • Hours: 10 to 12 hours per week, with some flexibility based on project needs.
  • Compensation: Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience.
