Purpose of Role

As a member of the People Team, the People Team Associate will focus on a variety of People Team related responsibilities. The initial focus will be partnering with hiring managers across the Foundation to run efficient and effective hiring processes for open roles from kick-off to accepted offer to ensure that the Foundation hires exceptional and diverse talent. The People Team Associate will work to ensure that hiring managers are building diverse pools for open roles with candidates who have the skills necessary to be successful in the role, and will manage hiring teams to follow our hiring process and ultimately meet our hiring goals. This role will support hiring managers across the entire organization and will have an extra focus on supporting hiring managers for the Obama Presidential Center.

This role is also responsible for supporting the People Team in all aspects of human resources as needs surface. At times this position may support other functions beyond talent acquisition on the People Team. The People Team Associate will initially report to the Director of Talent Acquisition.

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Managing the Hiring Process:

    • Conduct kick-off meetings with hiring managers for open roles

    • Build strong and diverse pools of applicants for open roles

    • Conduct interviews with candidates

    • Ensure hiring managers develop thoughtful and effective interview plans and candidate exercises

    • Facilitate regular check-ins with hiring teams to ensure that the process moves along efficiently and effectively

    • Use data to inform our recruiting practices and increase efficiency and effectiveness

  • Workforce Development/Sourcing:

    • Coordinate with Talent Acquisition Analyst to ensure all roles are posted on appropriate platforms

    • Source candidates utilizing LinkedIn and other job boards as needed

    • Work in conjunction with our Marketing & Communications team to develop and manage a plan to market open roles via social media as needed

    • Appropriately track and engage prospects in Workday

    • Partner with our People Business Partners in the execution of our workforce development strategy

  • Employer Branding

    • Act as an ambassador for the organization, promoting our brand and values to potential candidates and positioning us as an employer of choice

  • Process Improvement:

    • Continuously assess and improve recruitment processes to enhance efficiency, candidate quality, and hiring outcomes.

  • People Team Support:

    • Provide support across the Talent Acquisition Team on various projects related to recruitment, hiring, and/or onboarding.

    • Provide support across the People Team on various projects as needed

  • HR Administration:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.

    • Assist with payroll processing and benefits administration.

    • Support the implementation of HR policies and procedures.

    • Prepare reports and analyze HR data.

    • Provide support as it relates to labor and employee relations.

    • Execute projects related to onboarding & employee engagement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Key Deliverables / Outcomes

  • Strong and diverse applicant pools

  • Requisitions are filled by the proposed target start dates

  • Recruitment goals and metrics for developing diverse candidate pools

  • Compliant and effective hiring processes are followed by all hiring teams

  • Strong satisfaction ratings for the candidate experience and the hiring manager experience

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of human resources experience (2+ years of experience in full life cycle recruiting and 2+ years of human resources generalist experience)

  • Highly organized, with track record of meeting short- and long-term responsibilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, high volume organization

  • Exceptional communication – written and verbal – with proven ability to build effective relationships, internally and externally, and at all levels

  • Experience in and facility with using an Applicant Tracking System to manage search required (Workday preferred, not required)

  • PHR or other HR certifications preferred (not required)

The salary range for this role is between $59,755 and $74,670.

This is a hybrid role based at our Chicago office in Hyde Park.
