Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports the independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates operating health centers across the U.S. Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit membership organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy, and electoral activity, including grassroots organizing, legislative advocacy, and voter education.
Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) and Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) seek a strategic and collaborative Senior Advisor to the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO). This job reports to the CFO who heads the Finance and Accounting division of PPFA. This division strategically manages the finance and accounting functions of the organization providing confidence to all stakeholders in the fiscal and fiduciary responsibility of PPFA, PPAF, and their subsidiaries and related organizations (collectively, PP Organizations) with a commitment to customer service, sound controls, compliance monitoring, and timely, accurate, and complete reporting, analysis and decision support to further the Planned Parenthood mission.
Purpose:
The Senior Advisor, OCFO will focus on identifying and operationalizing best practices within and across the entire finance and accounting spectrum, with specific goals of enhancing accounting capabilities and the ability of the Financial Reporting and Analysis functions to provide decision support across the PP Organizations. This position encompasses a wide scope of responsibilities, including process improvement, enhancement of finance and accounting data governance, financial and operational modeling, the delivery and buy-in of finance and accounting analytical products, and advice, support and/or management of a variety of cross-functional projects both within the OCFO and across the organization. The role requires a deep understanding of accounting, financial operations, financial and operational analysis, and finance and accounting best practices, along with the ability to navigate complex challenges, cross-functional organizations, and deliver actionable solutions that drive organizational success. By driving process improvements and standardizing financial and accounting practices, the Senior Advisor will contribute to the overall efficiency of OCFO operations, allowing the organization to allocate resources effectively in pursuit of its mission.
Engagement:
As an individual contributor with a broad scope to manage complex challenges, this position requires strong collaboration, both internally and externally.
Internally, the Senior Advisor will engage with various teams across the organization, ranging from Development to People, Culture, & Equity to the Office of the General Counsel, as well as all teams within OCFO, to identify operational challenges, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and bring projects to fruition without direct control. Building effective partnerships with leaders and staff at all levels is critical to ensure financial practices are aligned with organizational goals. They will also serve as a thought partner to the CFO, Deputy CFO and Chief Accounting Officer on issues that impact team and organization effectiveness.
Externally, the Senior Advisor will engage with a variety of consultants on specific project deliverables. They also will maintain and expand knowledge of industry best-practices and innovations through continued professional development.
Delivery:
The Senior Advisor to the CFO will advise on and execute essential functions that support the organization’s business and operational needs grounded in financial, economic, and business expertise. They will elevate existing and develop new processes and tools to meet the organization’s needs through core deliverables which include but are not limited to:
● Partnering with finance and accounting teams to identify operational challenges and develop best practice solutions that improve efficiency and effectiveness.
● Analyzing existing financial processes and workflows, recommending enhancements to streamline operations and reduce redundancies
● Facilitating cross-departmental and cross-organization discussions to share insights and promote best practices, using influencing and analysis skills to build relationships that will foster impactful business decision support
● Advancing the quality, timeliness, strategic and tactical value of financial information framed in a way that provides context and analytical support to decision makers
● Spearheading digital technology implementations to build future-ready finance and accounting functions
● Designing and building reports and dashboards that help monitor financial performance relative to strategic goals and objectives
● Assisting in improving the annual budgeting and ongoing forecasting models and processes, collaborating with various departments to ensure alignment with PPFA’s strategic goals
● Conceptualizing, developing, documenting, and maintaining financial models to efficiently and effectively answer business questions and support scenario analyses
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
● Expert-level FP&A skills, including design and execution of financial models, financial statement projections, financial ratio analysis and interpretation of results; expert-level knowledge of principles, practices and techniques associated with budget development and financial analysis. Certified FP&A credentials from an accreditation organization is a requirement.
● CPA designation is a requirement.
● At least 8 years of experience in accounting or financial management is a requirement.
● Experience with financial management of a federated structure and consolidating entities, including c4 and other advocacy and political organizational structures, is preferred.
● Stewardship over the preparation of timely and accurate budgets and financial management reports to the strictest legal and accounting standards.
● Ability to determine and gather information needed to complete a task (including knowledge of sources of pertinent and accurate information, both internal and external to the organization)
● Experience building strong teams, organizations and cultures as well as collaborative relationships both internal and external to the organization.
● Demonstrated ability to encourage others to seek opportunities for different and innovative approaches, facilitating implementation and acceptance of change
● A commitment to excellence, a service-orientation and demonstrated ability to work comfortably and communicate effectively at all levels
● Highest level of personal and professional integrity

● Well-developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and advanced facilitation experience
● Must be able to effectively communicate information to all levels of the organization
● High proficiency in Google products

Travel: Less than 10%
