WHO WE ARE:
Red Wine & Blue is a national community of diverse suburban women working together to defeat extremism, one friend at a time (best explained by this Washington Post profile, ‘Blue’ suburban moms are mobilizing to counter conservatives and this NYT episode of “The Daily,” Why Suburban Women Changed Their Minds). We are seeking a passionate individual to join our team as a temporary GOTV organizer to support our relational organizing program through the 2024 election cycle in East Macomb County, Kent County, Downriver, or Mid Michigan.
WHO YOU ARE: You are dedicated and motivated to make a meaningful impact in your local community. You thrive at building relationships and can use your finesse to mobilize supporters. You are eager to execute events and initiatives that drive voter outreach.
This role does not directly manage team members and reports to the State Deputy Program Director. This is a temporary position based out of a home office in East Macomb County, Kent County, Downriver, or Mid Michigan with a focus on executing initiatives during the 2024 election season. Weekly commitment can range from 20-40 hours based on availability and organizational need. Frequent travel may be required to attend relevant events within the state. This temporary assignment is expected to end on November 15, 2024.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Conduct direct-to-voter relational organizing and volunteer recruitment work within your state through the 2024 November Election
- Work with your state’s Deputy Program Director to hit voter contact goals
- Identify potential volunteers in your area and make a plan for recruiting them into our program
- Teach volunteers how to map their networks and record relational contacts in RWB’s online tool
- Collaborate with Regional Organizers and the state team leadership to implement effective volunteer and voter outreach strategies
- Plan and coordinate strategic in-person and virtual events as a regional organizer to foster community engagement and enhance community engagement and participation during the election season
- Attend and support strategic in-person and virtual events to build community and increase engagement throughout the election season
- Leverage online database to record member interactions and track progress to goals
- Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU’VE GOT:
- Relationship Builder - You are the party planner, the go-to resource, the one friends (and their friends) call or text or Facebook to find out what’s going on. You live for making connections and you love building community among women to reach a common goal.
- Socially Savvy: You like talking to individuals one-on-one as well as talking to groups – you are a people person. You enjoy communicating on social media and love using communication and digital tools.
- Technologically Savvy: You are excited to learn and use new technology for data and communication. Familiarity or experience using online voter files, CRM or similar programs to track and record interactions. Experience with EveryAction or Rally preferred.
- Inclusive - You can work effectively with people regardless of age, race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, political background or job type. You understand how to connect on shared values with women who don’t consider themselves to be “political”.
- Flexible - You are comfortable navigating sometimes ambiguous work with competing priorities. You are nimble and can effectively shift focus when the need arises. You can work independently without direction.
- Organized & Productive - You have the ability to radically prioritize tasks and plan your days to meet goals.
- Growth Mindset - You have the ability to fail fast and win fast because you know that we learn as much from failure as we do success. You are not afraid to take risks, think outside the box and give or receive feedback. You are willing to put yourself out there whether it is speaking in public, creating videos or talking to reporters.
- Playfully Passionate: Your ability to get sh*t done is accompanied by your love for fun. You understand that we can do serious work without taking ourselves too seriously.
WHAT WE OFFER
The hourly rate for this position is $25 an hour, for a minimum of 20 and maximum of 40 hours per week. We take pay equity seriously and work hard to ensure our team members are paid fairly regardless of their gender, race, or other demographic backgrounds. This is a part-time, temporary position with a potential for full-time availability. We strongly encourage women, people of color, people with disabilities, non-binary candidates, and LGBTQIA candidates to apply.
All Red Wine & Blue staff members work remotely, running virtual operations nationally and on the ground in five states. Candidates for this position must live within East Macomb County, Kent County, Downriver, or Mid Michigan.
APPLICATION: Interested candidates should submit their application here to apply. You’ll be asked to include a resume and cover letter describing specifically why you want to work at Red Wine & Blue (we’re unique – we want to know why you think you’d love it here. Have fun with it!)
