As a program of Rise, we create original, impactful content that challenges the status quo and amplifies underrepresented perspectives.Position Summary:The Social Media Manager will be the driving force behind Rise Free Media’s online presence, crafting dynamic strategies and content that grow our audience, deepen engagement, and advance our mission. This role requires both creative vision and data-driven execution—someone who can develop compelling narratives, understand cultural and political moments, and leverage social platforms to shift conversation and inspire action.Primary Job Responsibilities:Community Engagement (45%): Monitor and respond to audience comments, messages, and feedback to foster an active, inclusive, and respectful online community. Build relationships with influencers, creators, and aligned organizations to expand reach.Content Production & Curation (30%): Produce original, high-quality social content including graphics, short videos, stories, and copy that reflect Rise Free Media’s voice and values. Collaborate with the editorial and video production teams to amplify shows, campaigns, and events. Source and adapt user-generated content and partner materials for our channels.Content Production & Management (15%): Develop and implement a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with Rise Free Media’s mission and growth goals in collaboration with the Director of Communications. Identify trends, cultural moments, and breaking news opportunities to engage our audience in real time. Create and manage content calendars across Instagram, TikTok, X/Twitter, YouTube, Facebook, and LinkedIn.Analytics & Optimization (10%): Track, analyze, and report on social media performance using analytics tools to optimize results. Utilize insights to refine content strategy, enhance engagement, and foster audience growth. Stay current on platform algorithm updates and best practices. Other duties as assigned by National Leadership (CEO, COO, etc.) and the Director of Communications.Required Qualifications:3–5 years managing social media for a brand, media outlet, or advocacy organization. Proven track record of growing audiences and engagement on platforms relevant to Gen Z. Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills with understanding of tone, style, and brand voice. Deep understanding of pop culture, politics, and their intersection for youth audiences and communities of color. Proficiency with social media management and analytics tools (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Later, Meta Business Suite, TikTok Analytics). Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and short-form video editing (e.g., CapCut, Adobe Premiere Rush). Passion for progressive politics and youth empowerment.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with media, advocacy, or progressive political organizations. Comfortable on camera and/or experience producing content for personal or organizational channels. Understanding of content analytics and performance measurement. Familiarity with issues and cultural references resonant with diverse Gen Z communities. Familiarity with SEO, social advertising, and emerging digital platforms.
