Compensation: $56,000 - 65,512 depending on experience

The Digital Community Manager serves as a key voice for our organization across digital platforms. They will be responsible for creating social video content, running social media engagement, and managing influencer relationships on TikTok, Instagram, and Youtube. They will create a good mix of base engagement, political education, and mobilization content, and aligning storytelling about Sunrise Movement’s strategy.
Responsibilities:

Public Discourse:
Serve as a public-facing voice for our organization through direct-to-camera video content aimed at political education and narrative building
Work with the comms team to produce, script, and star in videos for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
Monitor and participate in real-time public discourse by reacting to political news and engaging in conversations on social media
Engage with followers across platforms, moderating and responding to comments, fostering discussions, and creating a consistent community space

Digital Engagement Strategy:
Work closely with the digital team to develop and execute a social media and content creation strategy that expands and grows our TikTok and Instagram audience and increases reach and engagement
Make strategic decisions about expanding our long-form content strategy (YouTube, livestreams, podcasts, etc)
Assist in developing and implementing and influencer engagement strategy, identifying aligned content creators, organizers, and government officials to collaborate with.

Visual Design and Content Creation (Video and Graphic):
Edit short-form video content for social media
Create simple but effective graphics for social media
Work with the digital team on larger content projects, including political education, live events, and rapid response.

Volunteer Support
Manage comms volunteer team, providing direction, trainings, and feedback.
Coach volunteers to create or assist in the creation of content.

Ad-hoc Comms Capacity Support:
Support on content production normally held by other comms roles when necessary to meet moments of high output or low team capacity.
Qualifications
Must Haves
Strong on-camera presence and the ability to communicate complex ideas in an engaging, accessible, and persuasive manner
Experience creating direct-to-camera video content, particularly for TikTok and Instagram
Deep understanding of social media dynamics, including trends, audience behaviors, and best practices for growth
Political fluency, with the ability to analyze and respond to current events from a strategic, movement-aligned perspective
Commitment to movement-building and political education, with an understanding of progressive narratives and organizing strategies
Nice To Haves
Experience with video editing (Adobe Premiere, CapCut, or other tools)
Experience managing influencer partnerships or collaborating with aligned content creators
Experience with platforms like Twitch, Reddit, or YouTube
Experience with podcasting and livestreaming
Graphic Design skills (Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator)
