Compensation: $59,256-$66,750 annually depending on years of experience. In addition, Sunrise provides a special city allowance of $4,176 or $6,999.98 if the hire resides in a metro/micro area. This role also receives yearly salary increases.

About The Role
The Digital Lead produces effective digital communication to reach new audiences, raise grassroots donations, and tell the story of our organizing. This includes copy writing for email, SMS, blogs, and social media, as well as producing graphics and editing simple videos. They work with the rest of the Communications Team to support narrative strategy, respond to current events, and coach movement members on creative skills.

Core Responsibilities
Digital Communications:
Lead email and SMS communications that mobilize people and fundraise, including writing, quality control, and graphic design
Lead written communication (e.g. email/video scripts/blog posts/social media carousels) that educate the public on Sunrise’s political strategy, programs, and policy goals
Write copy and design graphics for social media content.
Occasionally edit simple videos for social media.
Create and manage assigned digital content for paid advertising campaigns, ensuring messaging aligns with campaign strategy and organizational priorities.
Work with the Sunrise Communications Team in moments of rapid response to quickly shape our message and create content
Digital Strategy and Coordination:
Coordinate with Sunrise staff, Sunrise volunteers, and partners to inform communication that educates the public on Sunrise’s political strategy, programs, and policy goals
Work with the Communications Team to shape narrative strategy around our campaigns.
Track goals and metrics for our digital work.
Work with Sunrise program staff to support digital strategies for our various organizing programs and tell the story of local campaigns.
Coaching, Training, and Movement Building
Develop and lead hub volunteers to create storytelling strategies for their local campaigns
Design and facilitate trainings, resources, and coaching that build digital communications skills across hubs and national programs.
Evaluate the effectiveness of coaching and training programs and recommend improvements to increase movement digital capacity.
Requirements
Must Haves
2 years of experience in digital and communications in movement spaces
Excellent copy writer for email, SMS, and social media
Experience framing sharp narratives to support campaigns
Political fluency, with the ability to analyze and respond to current events from a strategic, movement-aligned perspective
Grounded in the connections between climate, economic, and racial justice and able to speak fluently to the intersections of these issues, familiarity with the Green New Deal
Commitment to movement-building and political education, with an understanding of progressive narratives and organizing strategies
Intermediate graphic design skills, fluency with Canva
Nice To Haves
Experience running an email campaign and/or program
Advanced graphic design skills, proficiency with Photoshop, Illustrator, and Figma
Experience with platforms like EveryAction, ActionNetwork, ActBlue, and Mobilize. Comfortable using CRMs to evaluate data, address technical issues, and improve digital programs.
Experience creating video content, particularly for TikTok and Instagram
Strong on-camera presence and the ability to communicate complex ideas in an engaging, accessible, and persuasive manner
Experience managing influencer partnerships or collaborating with aligned content creators
