The Texas Freedom Network (TFN) seeks a full-time Statewide Chapter & Base Building Manager for its Texas Rising program. Texas Rising is a project of the Texas Freedom Network that is building an informed and effective movement of young Texans working toward equality and social justice across the state of Texas.

The Texas Rising Statewide Chapter & Base Building Manager is an organizing and management position whose primary responsibility will be managing a team of part-time organizers and overseeing statewide student chapter development, programming, and leadership training. This role focuses on building student leadership pipelines, strengthening campus-based chapters, and integrating student-led organizing into Texas Rising’s statewide campaigns. The Statewide Chapter & Base Building Manager will report to the Texas Rising Senior Director.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of part-time Campus Organizers and support student chapters and their leaders.

  • Provide ongoing coaching, resources, and training for chapter sustainability and growth.

  • Oversee and project manage student chapter priorities.

  • Align chapter work with organization-wide advocacy and electoral campaigns.

  • Collaborate and communicate with Texas Rising colleagues, and other TFN staff on shared goals and projects.

  • Develop relationships with local partner organizations, allies in the community, and campus administrations in order to achieve programming goals.

  • Develop and demonstrate competency in utilizing TFN organizing tools to meet goals for mobilization and grassroots organizing.

  • Participate in the development and implementation of trainings and leadership development opportunities for young people, including curating those opportunities for each region, and chapter, throughout the state.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Must live in Texas

  • Willing to travel across Texas and occasionally work evenings/weekends.

  • 3+ years of experience in organizing, campaign management, or youth leadership development.

  • Possess strong people management skills and be comfortable with conflict resolution

  • Adaptability and commitment to working in collaboration with the Texas Rising Director and TFN team to sustain and build the Texas Rising program with a new staffing model

  • Be well organized, resourceful and persistent

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Be a highly motivated self-starter who is able to work independently and in a team environment

  • Have the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Have the ability to foster a cooperative, team oriented work environment

  • Be tech savvy and have the ability to learn new digital organizing tools

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Have an entrepreneurial spirit and the capacity to build and implement a plan is preferred.

  • Be able to bring young people of color together and motivate them to get involved in the political process.

  • Experience in volunteer management.

  • Experience working with VAN or Votebuilder.

Benefits

Salary: $70,000 - $78,000 (depending on experience)

Continuation of 100% employer paid medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) savings plan with employer contribution, paid vacation, personal, sick, and parental leave.
