Communications Associate
The Parkside Group
Parkside is hiring a sharp, strategic Communications Associate to join our growing communications team.
We are a full service public affairs firm based in New York City specializing in strategic communications, public affairs, political consulting and government relations. Our team works with mission-driven clients to shape narratives, move public opinion, and influence policy—while also promoting our own voice in the conversation.
We're looking for a mid-level communicator who knows how to build and execute communications and social media plans from the ground up and can think just as strategically about our firm’s brand as they do about a client’s. If you’re a proactive media professional with solid writing chops, press relationships, and a love for storytelling, this could be the perfect fit.
Our company is committed to diversity and believes that our continued success has been made possible by hiring, retaining, promoting, and encouraging the people on our team. Women, people of color, members of the LGBTQIA community, and those who identify as disabled are strongly encouraged to apply.
Key Skills, Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Lead communications strategy for assigned clients—from messaging to media outreach.
- Pitch stories, op-eds, and press releases to New York and national media outlets.
- Manage day-to-day press operations for clients, including writing, planning, and reporting.
- Develop social media strategies and content calendars to build brand awareness around our clients and their causes.
- Drive Parkside’s brand and visibility, overseeing social media, thought leadership, and our monthly newsletter.
- Create compelling content across platforms that reflects our voice and values.
- Collaborate with internal teams across government relations, politics, and public affairs to deliver integrated strategies.
Essential Skills:
- 3–5 years of experience in communications, PR, journalism, or a related field.
- A track record of media placements and successful press engagement.
- Outstanding writing and editing skills—headlines, pitches, and polished copy.
- Experience managing multiple clients or projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with or interest in New York State and City politics and government is strongly preferred.
- A self-starter attitude—you know how to lead, not just assist.
Salary Range: $80,000 to $90,000 annually
