We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Intern to support the Finance team in various accounting, financial analysis, and administrative tasks. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in finance, learn about financial processes within a nonprofit or political organization, and contribute to the daily operations of the department.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, be proficient with financial software, and demonstrate a desire to learn and grow within the field of finance. This role is designed to provide a well-rounded experience that will develop practical skills in accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and data analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Data Entry & Management:

    • Assist in maintaining and updating financial records in various systems (Salesforce?, QuickBooks, Bill.com, Excel).

  • Audit Prep:

    • Assist with audits and prepare necessary documentation for internal and external review.

  • Expense & Invoicing Management:

    • Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with organizational policies.

  • Administrative Support:

    • Provide general administrative support to the Finance team, including filing, scanning, and organizing financial documents.

    • Assist with the preparation of documents for meetings and presentations.

    • Respond to requests for information received via the Finance email address (Way to Win vehicle information: W-9, Giving Information, etc.)

  • Special Projects:

    • Participate in special financial projects as assigned by the Finance Manager, such as financial data analysis, research, and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree, a recent graduate, or looking to pursue an advanced career in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial software (QuickBooks, Salesforce, etc.).

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this internship, you will be able to:

  • Gain practical experience in finance and accounting processes.

  • Understand the basics of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

  • Develop proficiency in financial software such as Salesforce and QuickBooks.

  • Learn how to analyze financial data and present findings to key stakeholders.

We require all interns to commit at least 20 hours per week, and interns also must have a computer with internet access.

Interns will receive a monthly stipend at $20/hr.

Interns will meet weekly with their assigned manager, as well as receive a monthly review. Way to Win will also host monthly calls with all interns as an opportunity to learn more about Way to Win and our broader community.
