Senior Manager of Donor Relations
USD 110k-125k / year
Way to Win is looking for a Senior Manager of Donor Relations to join our team and help deepen relationships with the members and donors who resource our work to build durable multiracial political power. This is a relationship-centered role for someone who is equally strong at building trust and making things happen.
The Senior Manager will manage an assigned portfolio of members, helping them understand and engage with Way to Win's political strategy while ensuring that every meeting, commitment, follow-up, and engagement opportunity moves through strong and reliable systems.
We're looking for someone who can move comfortably between a thoughtful donor conversation, an executive briefing, a political strategy discussion, Salesforce, and a Trello board—and understand that all of those things are part of excellent relationship management.
What You'll Do
Build and manage strong donor relationships.
You'll manage an assigned portfolio of members through regular communication, political education, tailored engagement, and thoughtful stewardship. You'll learn what matters to members and connect their interests to relevant state and national opportunities.
Turn relationships into meaningful engagement.
You'll help members move beyond simply receiving information to participating in the work—through briefings, portfolio conversations, learning opportunities, events, political education, and resource-mobilization opportunities.
Prepare leaders and members for great conversations.
You'll develop relationship strategies, meeting briefs, agendas, talking points, and follow-up plans in partnership with the Director of Donor Relations and organizational leaders.
Make sure the follow-through happens.
A great meeting is only valuable if something happens afterward. You'll track commitments, next steps, owners, and deadlines and help ensure that what we promise members actually gets done.
Connect teams around our members.
You'll work across Development, Membership, Political and Program teams, Narrative & Digital Studio, Communications, Executive Support, and other functions to ensure members receive accurate information and a consistent experience.
Turn relationship intelligence into organizational intelligence.
You'll help maintain strong Salesforce records and portfolio dashboards so that member interests, engagement, contributions, commitments, risks, and opportunities can inform strategy and decision-making.
Help us continuously improve how we engage donors.
You'll identify patterns in member feedback and contribute to engagement standards, segmentation, playbooks, templates, and improvements to the overall member experience.
You May Be a Great Fit If...
You have at least five years of experience in donor relations, membership, development, philanthropy, partnerships, political programs, account management, or a related field.
You've personally managed a portfolio of high-touch relationships and know that strong relationship management requires both emotional intelligence and operational discipline.
You're an excellent writer and communicator who can take complicated political or programmatic information and make it clear, compelling, and relevant to different audiences.
You're exceptionally strong at follow-through. You can manage multiple priorities, anticipate what comes next, and communicate early when something is at risk.
You understand that Salesforce or another CRM isn't simply a place to document what happened—it should help inform what happens next.
You exercise good judgment and discretion when working with donors, senior leaders, sensitive information, and complex organizational dynamics.
You enjoy working across teams and can coordinate people and projects even when you aren't everyone's direct supervisor.
And you share our commitment to advancing racial, gender, economic, and social justice and building durable multiracial power.
Even Better If You Have...
Experience working directly with political donors, philanthropic members, donor networks, or membership-based organizations.
Experience with Salesforce, donor portfolio dashboards, fundraising reporting, or engagement analytics.
Experience coordinating virtual and in-person convenings involving donors, executives, political leaders, or other senior stakeholders.
What Success Looks Like
You'll know you're succeeding when members experience Way to Win as thoughtful, responsive, strategic, and well coordinated. Relationships are deepening. Members understand our strategy and see meaningful ways to participate. Meetings produce clear next steps. Commitments don't disappear after conversations. Relationship information is current and useful. Risks are identified early. Opportunities for deeper engagement are surfaced. And internal teams have the information and lead time they need to support our members well.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for the Senior Manager of Donor Relations is $110,000–$125,000, commensurate with experience and aligned with Way to Win's compensation framework.
The position is expected to be eligible for Way to Win's comprehensive benefits package, subject to applicable plan terms and final organizational approval.
