ABOUT SWING LEFT

Swing Left’s mission is simple: we make it easy for people to maximize their impact on the most competitive elections to help Democrats win. Since launching in 2017, Swing Left’s one million members have raised more than $140 million for Democratic candidates, civic organizations, and voter mobilization efforts, and engaged more than 50 million voters door-to-door, by phone, and through handwritten letters. What makes us different:

  • Swing Left is singularly focused on directing grassroots time and money to help Democrats win close races that will determine the balance of power in our government, from the White House to key state houses.

  • We use data and technology to increase volunteer and donor impact by driving the right resources to the right campaigns, at the right time.

  • We put people first, delivering a member experience focused on strategic action, not noise—no spam emails, texts, or doomsday messaging.

About Vote Forward

Vote Forward is a nonpartisan organization that helps grassroots volunteers turn out citizens from underrepresented communities and encourage active participation in our democracy through high-impact voter engagement tactics. Since 2018, more than 250,000 grassroots volunteers have used the Vote Forward platform to send handwritten letters to more than 40 million prospective voters to encourage them to register to vote and turn out for elections. Vote Forward is affiliated with Swing Left.

JOB SUMMARY

Swing Left is seeking a sharp, highly organized, and execution-oriented GOTV Project Manager to serve as the operational 'glue' for our upcoming fall Get Out The Vote (GOTV) program. Sitting at the critical intersection of political organizing and technology, this role is designed to provide massive process capacity for our leadership team.

The GOTV Project Manager will support our Head of Technology and Head of Program in tracking their respective portfolios. They will also work hand-in-hand with the Managing Director and Chief of Staff, building and managing the tracking tools that empower executive leadership to oversee department heads seamlessly to ensure distinct teams are communicating, collaborating, and executing without friction.

Additionally, this role will provide light administrative and strategic time-management support to the Managing Director. The primary objective of the GOTV Project Manager is to lift the heavy burden of logistical process off senior leadership, giving them the clear space to focus strictly on the substance of our mission to net Democratic votes.

The ideal candidate is deeply skilled in project management systems (whether Asana or an equivalent tool) and thrives on meticulous task tracking, understands political campaigns and/or grassroots organizing, and can build clear workflows that allow leadership to stay informed and drive decisions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Executive Process Capacity: Build, maintain, and provide the tracking tools that allow the Managing Director and Chief of Staff to easily oversee department heads, ensuring cross-team work moves smoothly and transparently.

  • Managing Director Support & Priority Alignment: Provide light administrative support to the Managing Director, including light scheduling and calendar management. Analyze his schedule and make proactive recommendations on how to realign his time so he can focus deeply on programmatic substance rather than operational process.

  • Rigorous Internal Task Management: Collaborating closely with the Chief of Staff, Head of Tech, and Head of Program, you will own the day-to-day task tracking that bridges our internal team efforts with external tech and program vendor pipelines, ensuring absolute alignment and flawless execution. Along with the Chief of Staff:

    • Work with the Head of Technology to manage oversight of the development for two separate external vendors: one developing our canvassing app and another building our CRM. Track progress on in-house web products designed to help volunteers find where and how to mobilize.

    • Work with the Head of Program in tracking the design and iteration of our GOTV program (including canvassing scripts, volunteer training materials, recruitment, etc.). Ensure the rollout of our GOTV program is tightly integrated across tech platforms.

  • Cross-Team Communication: Support the Chief of Staff in being a central connector between Tech, Program, and Marketing. Once GOTV goes live, keep all operations moving on time, facilitate cross-team communication in meetings, and support the Head of Program in monitoring scale so leadership stays effortlessly informed.

REQUIREMENTS

We’re looking for a disciplined, fast-learning project manager who is obsessed with order, execution, and process architecture. You should have a foundational understanding of political campaigns, and/or tech product development.

  • A strong interest in and alignment with the distinct missions and values of Swing Left and Vote Forward.

  • 2+ years of professional experience in project management, ideally coming from political organizing, product and tech development, non-profit spaces, or the intersection of those fields.

  • An Asana “Power User”: Proven experience implementing and maximizing project management software (Asana preferred, but open to others) to manage complex, multi-layered workflows.

  • Operational Intuition: The ability to look at a leader's priorities and translate them into process structures, including an understanding of how to protect an executive's time and calendar.

  • Rapid-Response Execution: A fast worker who can absorb complex systems quickly, establish clear pathways out of moving parts, and maintain absolute focus on project delivery.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across teams in a virtual workplace.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite, Zoom, Slack, and Excel and/or Google Sheets.

  • A commitment to equity and belonging across all identities, and ability to learn and grow in this space.

  • Flexibility to work irregular hours during rapid-response or peak GOTV moments, and ability to sometimes join meetings during Eastern time zone business hours.
